For the last week and a half I've gotten emails letting me know that certain varieties of dahlias on my wholesale order would not be available. I'm down to one variety, and I'm just waiting for the email that says it too is not available.
There's been heavy rains and flooding since October in the Netherlands, impacting the dahlia crop there. It's going to be a massive loss for those farmers. Approximately 50 million tubers are produced by Dutch farmers. 🤯 Such is the risk of farming. Poor seed, weather events, insect pressure can all wipe out a crop.
I'm thankful to have a garage full (ish) of tubers, even if it's not as many as in the past. I'm also grateful for other local farmers who are willing to share their tuber crop.
While it might be a different year for Dahlias across the world, I'm hopeful that we will have Dahlias here in Utah in abundance.
What's not to love about ranunculus!? All the colors, the long vase life, that they bloom most of spring. Our spring subscription this last year had ranunculus in seven of the eight weeks. Next year promises to be even better, we've got all our favorite varieties and colors planted!
What do you love about ranunculus?
A friend mentioned that her bouquet subscription was more of a prescription, she NEEDS flowers. I love that. We all need a little beauty in our lives!
Current favorite row on the farm, can you blame me?

Six or so weeks till it's peony season! Like everything else, they're going to be a little late, but that will just give us time to enjoy the tulips first.
Peonies are my favorite spring flower, what is yours?
You don't have to plant peonies to have them in your home the spring!
Our spring subscription starts next week, we have a few spots left. You can sign up through the link in our bio.
They may be later than a typical year, but once they come we're going to be swimming in tulips! And ranunculus, and peonies! Spring flowers are the best!
Don't forget to sign up for the spring bouquet subscription! It'll be starting in just a few weeks.

In five or six weeks, depending on the weather of course, our spring subscription will be starting! Are you signed up?
It's not my favorite word.
Perfect.
I think perfect sometimes gets in the way of good. A moment doesn't have to be perfect to be filled with joy. A bloom doesn't need to be perfect to be appreciated. Our gardens, our homes, our lives are real, and that's so much better than perfect.
