📣 We’re so excited to announce…

“Little Me, Being Free” our new pilot creative wellbeing project, is launching this term across 3 settings.

Using dance, mindfulness & expressive arts, we’ll be working with children aged 2–6 in local primary schools & early year settings, helping them build emotional resilience, confidence, and healthy minds and bodies through movement and play.

We’re kicking off September with a collaborative planning day, supported by the brilliant Mafê Toledo, an early years dance specialist whose practice is rooted in somatic movement and child-led exploration and dance artist & Florencia Riverti who will be delivering the project. We’re so delighted to be working with them both.

✨ Mafê brings a wealth of experience supporting children and families through dance. Her work creates vibrant spaces where little ones are truly seen and heard, blending research, personal insight and deep connection.

A huge thank you as always to our amazing funders for believing in this work 💛

I read something very sad today..

There has been a significant rise in young children between the ages of 8-16 with a mental health disorder. 78% of children surveyed by Mind, stated that school had made their mental wellbeing worse. 270,300 children and young people are on the waiting list for mental health support in the UK.

This is heartbreaking. This isn’t good enough and unfortunately as a small organisation working directly with children in their school environments, we see a lot of this to be true.

Someone asked me recently what it is we are aiming to do with our work in schools. Instead of the usual spiel I would recite about building emotional resilience and providing intervention through creativity to provide strategies where children can begin to self-regulate and better understand their emotions… I simply said, we want to bring back some joy.

These photos are taken from a recent intervention project we have completed with a primary school and what I love about them is the joy, don’t we all need more joy right now.

Thank you for your support and funding – Watford Borough Council

This week is children’s mental health week! We wanted to share some data we’ve collected from a recent project with a primary school which shares thoughts from staff about the project and also records the children’s check in and check out emotions 🫧

Our early intervention work involves Dance and Mindfulness workshops for small groups of children referred for needing extra emotional support, struggling with anxiety, low self esteem and/or are school refusers.

We are so proud of the work we do and will continue to do in primary schools to support and advocate for children to have provision to better mental health ✨
