Eccles cakes

A round, flaky pastry filled with currants, nutmeg, cinnamon and citrus peel, it is a pleasure to the palate and a favorite companion to that solid British tradition — afternoon tea.

In 1650 eating of Eccles Cakes were banned because of the Puritan belief that they had pagan connections.
But the prohibition obviously did not hold 😉

No one can be certain of the date that Eccles Cakes were first manufactured, but historians are fairly certain that the origins of these pastries can be traced to the town of Eccles, now a suburb of Manchester.

We will be making beefburgers, served with patatas bravas and salad.
Onion Bhajis and there will be Dutch sausage rolls (saucijzebroodjes) and chocolate brownies.
As a special to celebrate the past and new year, a new market on a new location, we will be serving free shots and a piece of Dutch butter cake (boterkoek) 😋

Have a look at the menu, pick a curry of your choice, we will package it with basmati rice and an onion bhaji.
You collect Friday in Ginestar, Rasquera, Benifallet or Xerta, or Saturday at the Permonda market in Jesus and reheat in your home!
Meal deals are available for €8

It is also possible to order a full curry and rice, onion bhaji etc seperate.
