Year after year, this family has found their way in front of my camera for family photos and every year is more fun than the the year before. I always ask Ryan and Sydal to write us a manual on parenting because Logan and I both just love the relationship they have with their kids. Our plan last year had been spring blossoms and we all know how spring went in southeast Idaho last year. But then I had found this location and we found ourselves surrounded by summertime wildflowers and it could not have been any more perfect! See more from this session on the blog!!

We spread a blanket out today and had a picnic lunch in the front yard. Jai told me it was the best lunch he’s ever had. I’m pretty sure it was just the sunshine and warm weather talking but if that makes him think peanut butter and honey sandwiches, Cheetos, and fruit is the best thing ever, I’ll call that a win for the day.

This sweet family is on the blog! One reason I love extended families sessions is all the different groupings and seeing all the different family relationships. It’s so fun!!

No longer feeling patient for the snow to melt, let’s get going on springtime any time now Idaho. We are all ready to play outside and fill the garden full of almost all flowers like I told Emma we would. The boys want to plant their own again too! Maybe we’ll have them start some of their own seeds inside too. They have loved watching our first tray of soil blocking flower seeds popping up.

Anytime I think of fun, happy, and colorful flowers, this wedding is at the top of my mind! Could not have loved Savannah’s wedding colors and vibe more!!!

Happy anniversary Cobe and Bailey! I thought about them all weekend because they were married the first weekend of March last year and it snowed and snowed all day the day of their wedding just like it did again this year. If you’re looking for a spring wedding, maybe don’t pick the first weekend in March if you live in Idaho! But even if it does snow, these two are proof that it can still look incredible, despite the frozen toes!

We’d like to introduce you to our sweet daughter Emma Lu. She was born yesterday. There were some complications for her and she’s currently in the NICU. We won’t have many updates until later in the week. They are taking great care of her. We’d love any prayers for her. We won’t really be responding to comments or messages at this time- we’re just focusing on our little family. Thank you for all the prayers, love and support.

I just love when my clients and I come full circle. I photographed these two's wedding years ago, and now I got to photograph them as a family of FIVE! We went to Ryder's Park for these, and the tall, green grass and soft lighting was so dreamy! See more of this session on the blog. It's the sweetest!!!

I often work with families that have all boys and one girl — that’s how I grew up! The Simpson family, though, is the opposite! One boy and all girls, just like Logan. I loved watching this family interact and seeing their son be so kind and loving to those sisters of his! Loved everything about their outfits, too! It doesn't take a lot to make everything come together. Instead, pay attention to the details, patterns, and textures of your clothes.

If you think that Elizabeth’s dress looks like it was made just for her, it literally was! It was custom made by a friend who has now made all 3 of the sisters’ wedding dresses! So incredible! Trust me, you're gonna want to scroll through this session on the blog to see it even better!

I have been photographing the Sommer family for years now. I even just finished photographing all the kids' weddings! The sand dunes ended up being the perfect spot for these pictures. We all had so much fun playing with the water and watching all the four-wheelers and razors drive by. Photographing this family reminded me what all two people falling in love can amount to: so much love and joy!

When I say these two had a party, I mean they had a PARTY! I always love photographing an epic dance floor!!! I also love to guess if my couples are going to be cake smashers or gentle with their cake. Which were you? Were you messy cake cutters? Or polite and neat?

The Anderson family is on the blog! The Andersons had two twin boys who were about to head out on their missions, so we had to make sure we got these family photos in before then! Trust me, even when the kids get older, there is always something changing in their lives. You'll always be glad for having photos to document each phase, no matter how old they get!

On the blog!! Keifer and Sophia's wedding was flawless from beginning to end. They decided to forego the middle-of-the-day luncheon in favor of a rehearsal dinner the night before!! If you're looking for a good way to free up some time on the wedding day and help the pace feel more relaxed, I would highly recommend going this route! This is actually what we did for our wedding, and we loved it! From Sophia's dress inspired by her own Nana's wedding dress, to the fireworks at the end of the night, the details of this day were so thoughtful!Be sure to check out the blog for more inspiration and gorgeous photos!

Working to get sessions from this summer up on the blog again!! Starting it off with Ty and Alissa and their bridal session at Grand Teton National Park! This was the second time for me to shoot there. I hadn’t been there in years and this was the first time at this location. Everything was stunning!!!

Coming back to life here on Instagram with one of my favorite things to talk about, marriage. Let me tell you a little story about when Log and I were still within the first couple years of our marriage and garbage became a problem.

We were living the college life and still adjusting to married life. Our garbage can was located inside the pantry/closet type thing right by the kitchen. I had noticed that I seemed to be the only one ever taking the trash out or realizing that it as full. I would watch Log go throw something away in it without another thought when I knew it was full. My irritations grew and then I took the trash out in a very grumpy manner.

We had a conversation about it. I was frustrated that I was doing what felt like all the things and he couldn’t be bothered to take the trash out. Guess what he told me- he honestly didn’t realize it was full. It wasn’t something that was crossing his mind but he would be happy to take it out anytime, all I had to do was ask.

I actually think back on and reflect about this full garbage can story often. My irritations grew out of something that was pretty simple to reconcile, all I had to do was ask. In our marriages, we might often assume or think that our spouse is doing something to annoy or bother us. Or maybe we think they should know what we need them to be doing because it’s something they are involved in, etc, etc. We might feel justified in being frustrated or annoyed by our spouses, but wouldn’t it be easier and so much better for our relationship to simply ask them to “take out the trash” instead of letting that eat away at the relationship?

I try really hard to always just ask for what I need from Logan rather than expecting him to read my mind or to just instinctively know what I need him to do. This way I’m not harboring into negative feelings that do no good for our relationship.

This week, think of what feelings you might be harboring and try to come up with a way to ask for their help instead of building frustration.
