Darlene Regis Writer-Cosplayer “Darling” as her moniker, Darlene Modelo Regis, is a Filipina journalist, teacher, artist, cosplayer, “I'm an endangered species. A rare commodity. Restless.

A survivor from an extinct tribe. Risk-taker. Intrepid. Night Owl. Nomad. I eat tensions and deadlines for breakfast. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but chains and whips excite me. I am Darlene.”

“Darling,” as her moniker, Darlene Modelo Regis, is a Filipina journalist, teacher, artist, cosplayer, event organizer, marketing specialist, and business manager based in Doha, State of Qatar. He

r years of experience at various companies, media firms, and learning institutions, catapulted her into the event management and journalism industries. She graduated with a Major in English degree and pursued post-graduate studies in Language and Literacy Development. Her certifications from training centers in Qatar qualified her to conduct workshops for any nationalities. She then climbed up the corporate ladder as a writer and editor for magazines, newspapers, and websites. Consequently, she has been appointed as an instructor in training centers where she shares her stock knowledge on English Proficiency, Office Management, Event and Media Marketing, Personality Development and Work Etiquette, and Business English Writing to working professionals. Some of her awards and achievements include - Best Instructor of FiCel-Northfield Training Center Qatar, Editor in Chief of the Year, Qualifier for National Schools Press Conference, Champion Feature Writer DSPC, Feature Writer of the Year, YMCA Leader, Declaimer of the Year, University President of Student Council, Liberal Arts President, Artium Baccalaureus President, English Club President, Chairperson of COMELEC, among others. Gauging the parameters of arts and crafts, Darlene penetrated the bespoke costume designing. She herself designs her own long gowns and costumes for her cosplay and other events. Some clients also approach her to design their fashion or costume needs. A true-blue Leyteñan from Tacloban, Philippines, Darlene has itchy feet for travel, which made her a travel bug braving some foreign countries to learn from their culture and tradition. This spurred her interest to study different foreign languages, apart from her three mother tongues in her country. Having worked with the corporate world, fashion-retail division, mainstream media, educational institution, hospitality industry, fashion department, and advertising firm, she gained an understanding of the crucial elements in having a proactive team of artists, designers, photographers, trendsetters, and tech-savvies, who work closely together in a fast-paced, multitasking environment — wherein beating the deadline and achieving top-tier results — are utmost priorities. Diving down the Web wormholes to catch the latest updates in Qatar and the world at large, she writes local and international breaking news before they even become viral news. She has been managing blogs in multi-niche platforms and has also been responsible for the content creation for some social media business pages. She then expanded her horizons in event organizing, visual arts designing, teaching, advertising, SEO, social media management, sales, and marketing. Before this stint, she was managing the communication operations of Doha Club Events Management & Services, the main producer of the biggest Filipino concerts in Qatar including Sarah G Live in Doha.

“For me, the secret formula to success is a fusion of hard work and the Law of Attraction. I remember when I was a first-grader, I would emulate my teacher as I wanted to follow her footsteps. She would even leave our whole class for me to supervise it when she was attending her meetings. My vision was to lead and manage the whole classroom someday. Ergo, I gathered a class composed of 5-10 kids. With our used calendars and borrowed books from our neighborhood, I started to help them read and write. As fate would have it, I've been teaching since I was a working student and up to date here abroad. Apart from that, I've been reading my grandpa's daily subscription to newspapers. I dreamed to see my byline to be published in any journal. Tough luck, I got the opportunity to be an EIC and a journalist until now. There were also events I attended where I didn't want to be a spectator only. I opted to be one of the event organizers, which I did, modesty aside. In God's will, the universe conspires to make them happen, if you also never give up on your dreams.” – Darlene Modelo Regis

Congratulations to our team! We won the Best in Costume and Best Team Photo awards in the Alice in Wonderland challenge by CluedUpp Games, an international games studio that creates immersive team building activities in over 80 countries worldwide. Many people were taking photos of us and asking us about the costumes that we made ourselves. ‘Twas fun cosplaying “The White Queen” with my old Cinderella costume that I converted into a white gown.
