my Aw discovered her calling after planning her sister’s wedding in 2005, from which Sugar & Spice was born. Wedding planning was always her cup of tea, however, these days - she creates and coordinates all events with the same attention to detail, tenacity and pizzazz, as if it was her own family affair. Sugar & Spice is proud to be on the recommended supplier list of some of the top wedding vendors in the country, which re-enforces our reputation in the industry. The 30 minutes before dinner is where the pace quickens and the stakes are at their highest, and where our team comes alive.

In that narrow window, we were everywhere at once: cueing the bride’s first look with her bridesmaids, guiding the groomsmen into place for portraits, checking that every decor element in the space was as it should be, and signalling the kitchen for precise service timing. The cake arrived, candles on tables were lit, guest registration flowed without a pause, all while we ushered family into their seats and discreetly handled the little surprises that only a wedding day can bring.

It’s a dance we know by heart.

We move with purpose, in our signature attire, poised and polished yet deeply personal, ensuring each moment unfolds exactly as it should, so our couple never feel the rush happening around them.

Because when it all comes together, that’s when you see the true art of a planner.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, we learned how much Felicia & Jason valued intimacy just as much as celebration. They spoke about wanting their vows to feel deeply personal, a promise made with eyes locked, not with hundreds of eyes watching.

So we built space for it. A quiet corner away from the crowd, timed perfectly before the day swept them into its beautiful chaos. We softened the light, kept the flowers close, and ensured no one else would interrupt.

When the moment came, they stood together, the air still and heavy with meaning. Words spoken in a whisper, laughter breaking through tears.

And for those few minutes, nothing else existed.

Day one with Felicia and Jason was steeped in tradition, but it was also filled with quiet in-between moments, the kind that often get lost in the rush. We made sure they didn’t.

While timelines, logistics, and details were all in place, our focus was on reading the rhythm of the day, knowing when to step back and when to step in. Making space for them to laugh, breathe, and take in what was happening.

When Felicia and Jason came to us, they were clear from the start. Their tea ceremony would be a true homage to tradition, while their other celebration would carry a modern spirit that felt entirely their own.

We didn’t have months and months together, but we made every moment count. Late-night phone calls to fine-tune the smallest personal details, in-person catch-ups to walk through ideas, helping in all the little ways that make a big difference. And through it all, we kept reassuring them: the Sugar & Spice team will be right there, hand in hand, from the first moment to the last.

On the morning itself, Jason shared a quiet moment with his parents, Felicia slipped into her shoes with calm anticipation, laughter filled the air during the gate-crash, and then silence as tea was poured for their elders. These were the moments that mattered, and the ones we worked quietly to protect, so they could live them fully.

After the sun had set and the vows were spoken the celebration moved into the ballroom. A space transformed with towering florals sweeping drapes and soft candlelight framing the evening like the final act of a beautiful play.

It was here beneath the chandeliers that everything came alive.

Ashleigh and Yi Qing made their entrance not as two people but as one. The room erupted into cheers a standing ovation from their closest friends and family. Glasses were raised voices rang out in joy and you could feel the kind of energy that only comes when everyone in the room knows they are witnessing something deeply meaningful.

There were tears during the speeches. There was laughter that echoed across tables. There was that moment during their first dance where they only saw each other and nothing else.

And for every beat of this celebration we were there. Not in the spotlight but in the folds of the evening keeping it all flowing making sure everything felt effortless from the lighting of the candles to the timing of the toasts.

Then the lights dimmed the DJ took over and the after party began.

What started as an elegant evening quickly turned into a full-on dance floor moment. Friends kicked off their shoes, drinks flowed and every single guest found their way into the beat. Ashleigh and Yi Qing were right in the middle of it dancing with everyone no stage no spotlight just joy.

And through every transition from candlelit dinner to confetti-filled beats, we stayed close behind the scenes watching it all unfold holding the rhythm making sure the night never lost its magic.

Because when a celebration is this full of heart it deserves to be felt not managed.

And that’s where we come in.

On the sun-drenched lawn by the sea, beneath the shade of a grand old tree, their ceremony unfolded like a scene from a dream. The floral arch, an asymmetrical dance of soft hydrangeas, garden roses, and wild foliage, framed the couple as they stood hand in hand, her gown cascading like seafoam, his suit crisp and ivory against the lush green.

There was a quiet rhythm to the day, where everything flowed without the need for fuss. From the moment she walked down the aisle with her father to the exchange of vows that had everyone laughing through tears, it felt as if the whole afternoon was gently guided by invisible hands. Behind the scenes, every little detail, every chair, every petal, every cue, came together seamlessly, allowing the couple and their guests to simply be present, in the moment, surrounded by joy.

It was effortless.

Just the way it should be.

That afternoon Yi Qing got ready not just with her dress and her earrings but with the quiet support of her bridesmaids all around her.

They moved gently helping with heels adjusting folds of fabric brushing off nerves with familiar laughter. It wasn’t just about looking beautiful. It was about being surrounded by women who have walked with her through the seasons of life and now stood by her in this one.

This kind of morning doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from having space to slow down breathe and be fully in the moment.

And so we held that space.
Stepping back but always near.
So she could be with her girls in the soft glow of the afternoon before stepping into the next chapter.
