80 years since D-day it’s hard to imagine what all those people went through 4,415 allied soldiers lives lost in 24 hours all to liberate Europe from N**i occupation over the last 3 months it’s been a privilege to work with Imperial War Museum HMS Belfast to tell the story of Bob Shrimpton known as Ping to his crew. https://youtu.be/GAAKXEa7ms0 Bob was a humble chap who went about his job like any British person would of that era stiff upper lip he was also a romantic writing letters to his lover rosemary and altering lyrics to songs. I wanted to capture this essence and make a film that perserves his memory for future generations. I got into filmmaking because of my own desires to tell the stories of my great grandad from his time in the RAF during world war 2 so being given this project to direct has been an amazing experience.
