For those interested, I'll be heading back to doing the l!ve thing soon! I'll become part of the DJ program where apparently the appropriate labels get some funds from our plays. While I support the artist being paid, I'm sceptical about the split due to lack of transparency. Twatch already takes a huge chunk of your sub/bit donations and I suspect the artist gets 0.001% of that passed on revenue after the split with the creator. Realistically it seems like a better move to listen to tracks via spotify/tidal/bandcamp where available, after a l!ve.
With this in mind, any revenue I make via Twatch goes back to artists I play with purchases of tunes anyway. But I highly discourage subs/bits on my channel for the time being, until they are clear with their data. You can tip what you like via donation, but it's not expected. In fact I encourage tipping other DJs you listen to on Twatch via other portals. I play because I enjoy my community, music and DJ'ing, and this structure doesn't bother me, but it bothers other creators as they need the income. Please donate to them directly for now!
