Hello Melters!


We hope everyone’s 2023 is off to a fantastic start. Since wrapping up Meltdown ‘22, we took some much-needed time off to bond with our sweet baby, Luca James, and to recover from the intense workout of moving to a new venue after 14 years in Darrington. This was a monumental task for us and our team, and we learned so much during the process.


To be clear, moving to a new location was the only way for us to reopen after the shutdown, as the venue owners in Darrington declined to rent their grounds to us.


We understand that this venue change was challenging, and we appreciate all of the support you gave us during Meltdown’s first year back. We also recognize that while the new venue in Monroe is gorgeous and has a ton of potential, it needs to be developed further before we can host the fest there again. Returning to Darrington is also not an option for 2023 (we asked).


So, after much careful consideration, we have decided to take the year off in order to figure out the best path forward for Summer Meltdown in 2024. We will let you know as soon as we have more info to share about this evolution. We love and appreciate you all so much, and want to thank you for being such a beautiful festival community for so many years. Take care and we will be in touch.

Dearest Melters, as the summer comes to a close, so begins our annual hiatus from social posts. With only 11 short months until the next Melt, our team uses this time to collectively brainstorm on how to make next year even better. We appreciated all of your feedback and comments, and wish you all a wonderful fall. Stay tuned in the coming months for updates on our 2023 festival dates, lineup, and more!

In 2022, Summer Meltdown joined the Keychange Pledge!

“The music industry has a lot of work to do to repair longstanding inequities for women and nonbinary musicians. In 2022, our festival achieved the goal of having at least 50% of our acts include a woman or nonbinary person. That being said, we still have a long way to go to realize equal representation at our event. We’re proud to commit to book outstanding women and nonbinary performers on our stages at a rate equal to men moving forward. To know that we are joining many festivals around the world in making this same commitment is an encouraging sign. We hope that someday the music industry will be a universally welcoming and healthy place for women and nonbinary artists, staff, and fans. Until then, we plan to treat everyone right at Meltdown.”

Happy New Year, everyone! After a two-year hiatus from hosting Summer Meltdown, we are beyond excited to be moving forward with our 2022 festival and finally celebrate our 20th year. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, February 2, 2022! But first, we have to let you know about a very important change in the mix for Meltdown 2022: we are moving to a new location this year. We were bummed to receive the news from the Darrington venue owners that they are in the process of reorganizing due to COVID, and have decided not to rent their venue during this process. We loved calling Darrington our home for the last 14 years, but we respect their decision and wish them all the best. This is not the first time or the second time we've moved venues! We are excited to embrace this new chapter and boy, do we have one heck of a new spot. We've spent months scouting out locations to hold this very special event, and we feel confident that we’ve found the most perfect place. Summer Meltdown will reopen at Sky Meadows Park in Snohomish, WA. With 4 miles of riverfront property on the Skykomish River, forested camping, beaches, swimming holes, and stunning views, we're gonna be checking all kinds of Melty boxes with the added bonus of more room for everyone to enjoy. As we work out all the details, we'll keep you in the loop—but the vibe is strong with this one and being in Snohomish even cuts travel time in half if you're coming from Seattle. We are stoked about this new chapter for Meltdown and hope that you'll join us for an extra Melty gathering Thursday, July 28th - Sunday, July 31st, 2022. Our Story

We're talking about 19 years of adventure and great music.

The river, the beach at bacon point, the sun making Whitehorse Mountain turn gold at dusk and pink at dawn. Nobody's ever a stranger at Meltdown, we're united young and old with the goal of having the best weekend of the summer. We make it that way together, loading our cars from all over the west and driving into the North Cascades, bringing unicorn floaties and snacks to share and absurd costumes and best friends.

We become like the ferns below our hammocks, a glacial wind as we swoop down the steps of the amphitheater, the feeling of sunlight on our necks as we rope swing into the river. We put stars in our eyes and pad thai dumplings in our bellies and music follows us the whole year through. Bassnectar, The String Cheese Incident, Griz, Greensky Bluegrass, Beats Antique, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and many more.

In 2013, Odesza played our smallest stage when they were just Bellingham dreamers like so many of us, howling at the moon and sleeping til afternoon in the forest. Somewhere in those daydreams the truth was revealed: life is a silent disco if you're living it right.
