Not sure which type of planning package is right for you? Use this guide to help you understand the difference between the types of services that planners offer. Keep in mind, all planners are different and include their own service items uniquely! Your contract will state what is included in the package you select and should clearly define the vendorās responsibilities. Not all planners are the same so make sure youāre selecting the planner and service that is best for your expectations and needs!

When I think back to our most successful weddings, the ones that stick out are those who had a collaborative and involved vendor team. Florists who are on site for set up, room flip, and tear down, rental companies that install the rentals weāve secured for our clientās vision, caterers that handle dessert set up and late night snack serviceā¦ you get where Iām going with this. Being in the business for almost 6 years, weāve seen and done it all. My husband & I have delivered a truck full of rentals to a hotel at 2am because the rental company wasnāt contracted to come back for tear down, we had to set up tables and chairs for a backyard wedding, physically jump on shepherds hooks for the florist, the list goes on and on. While weāre happy to help assist vendors and be a team player for our clients, we cannot be solely responsible for another vendorās work. You wouldnāt ask your hair stylist to do your make up so why are you asking your planner to set up and tear down your florals? Some planners do offer this as a service but be mindful that if they donāt have another set of hands to do this, they will be in the weeds versus flying high. A plannerās job is to lead and execute the timeline of events, asking a planner team (usually 1-2 people) to complete a job that should be completed by a team of 5-10, isnāt a good idea. Let your planners do their job to manage your wedding by hiring your other vendors to complete their work from start to finish.

A tini bit closer to our August weddings! šø I spent the morning with one of our couples at their venue walkthrough to talk through vendor logistics, set up & tear down, and event flow. These meetings are critical to ensure all vendor needs and expectations are met the day of your wedding! We recommend scheduling these meetings after you have confirmed your final guest count to confirm the number of tables and chairs needed. Some key points to consider are what time your venue opens for vendor set up and how much time will be needed to be ready by guest arrival. Each venue operates things differently and weāre there to help identify any potentially challenging logistic needs. Make sure to send your final floor plans to all of your vendors to ensure everyone is on the same page for your desired set up.

Exciting update! Iāve accepted a full-time position as a Business Development Manager in the fitness equipment industry. I started working with the company in February during our slow season as a scheduling coordinator and have since been asked to stay on to work in the business development and marketing side of the company. Iām truly grateful for this opportunity and exciting new challenge, plus I get to work from home which our dog Indie is also very happy about. While I have loved working in the events industry for the last 6 years, it hasnāt been easy. I started Buck & Rose in September 2018 and our first full time season was in 2020. Navigating Covid as a new business owner was extremely stressful and challenging, to the point where I almost decided to close the business right then and there. Iām glad I decided to push through because since then, Iāve been able to grow our team, expand our services, and most importantly serve incredible clients. I started Buck & Rose because Iāve always wanted to be an entrepreneur just like my Mom, and Iām so proud that I was able to accomplish that dream, especially before her sudden and unexpected passing. With this new career change, Buck & Rose will still book weddings, however, we will do so on a selective basis and with my teamās help. Iām excited for my new chapter and to still be in the events industry in an intentional way. If youāre interested in working with us in 2025, please inquire sooner than later! Weāll prioritize inquires by vendor referrals and past client referrals first and from there see what other opportunities seem like they could be a good fit for us. Hot take from a planner: do not ask vendors for a discount. Recently Iāve seen an influx of potential clients ask for a discount and while some vendors (including myself at times) run a promo, once itās over, itās over. There are many reasons why a vendor can choose to run a promo but ultimately itās to fill an open date on a calendar in our industry. If you inquire with a vendor during a promo and their promo expires before you book, itās ok to ask if they would be able to honor the promo price but if the answer is no, itās a no. Most vendors have a base package and that can be viewed as their starting rate. To ask a vendor to charge less than their starting rate is disrespectful and unfair to the vendor. The things to consider with pricing is their experience, number of years in business, reviews, and reputation. All of those things are worth money and while a wedding is an investment, it isnāt a necessity. Weddings are a luxury. There are vendors out there for a variety of budgets. Donāt inquire with a vendor who is out of your budget and expect to get a discount because you ask. If youāre ever unsure of what a vendorās pricing starts at, itās ok to ask for that information upfront before scheduling a consultation. And to my vendor friends, know your worth and donāt charge any less š¤

Details on film from one of my favorite weddings ever, ever!! I loved working with Kat & Fosa so much. They trusted their vendors, they were collaborative and involved in the planning process, and they didnāt sweat the small stuff. They were intentional and their wedding day was beyond incredible! Iām so sad that I donāt get to meet with them for planning anymore but I have a feeling we will keep in touch. Just my opinion but floating ceremony arches > hanging installations. Theyāre so versatile and can be used for the ceremony and as a beautiful backdrop for your head table or sweetheart table. 10/10 would recommend!

Letās talk day-of paper goods. What to use when and why at a quick glance. Menus are perfect for family style and buffet service because everyone will want to know what is being served. This is especially important to notify guests with allergies and dietary restrictions/preferences what is available on the menu. A seating chart with a place card is great when you want to assign specific seats at each table, we recommend this for plated meals with specific meal indicators to communicate to the catering team what meal each seat should have. Es**rt cards are similar to place cards but rather than assigning a specific seat, the guest is just given a table number and they have the option to choose which seat to sit in, this is common with buffet service and no seating chart would be required. Hope this helps you determine your day of stationery needs!
