Excerpt from "Irresistible Force, The Life And Times Of Gorilla Monsoon" by Brian R. Solomon
"The unfortunate targets of their (Gorilla Monsoon & Bill Watts) frustration would be the mid-card babyface duo of Chief White Owl and Argentina Apollo, their opponents at the rinky-dink Ocean Ice Palace in Brick Township, New Jersey three days before the Garden. The orders from the office were to put over White Owl and Apollo in some kind of disqualification finish, but that just wasn't going to happen. 'I couldn't stand White Owl and Gino couldn't stand Apollo', Watts remembers. 'So we changed everything in the ring and we clobbered them'.
GMC NOTE: As I read this story, I realized that I have the poster for this July 30, 1965 event hanging in my home. I got the poster when I attended the event as a young 12 year old fan.
