My name’s Sofaya and Headblush is my bold, colourful, sparkly baby.
I bloody love beauty and fashion - the fun, the dress up, the new, the old, the cultural - and the infinite possibilities that practising them gives us. We can transform through them for fun, choose to become a certain version of ourselves or transcend into someone entirely new.
But as a curly-headed mixed race gal in a fat body with dark chin hairs that will not give me a break, there is so much in beauty and fashion where I’m told: this is not for you, you do not fit, you must change, we can help you, buy this product!
Quite frankly, f**k that.
I am big, brash, loud. I wear pink tights with green skirts and green lipstick without a lick of foundation on my skin. I take up space by choosing to do all the ‘wrong’ things and I live for it.
I believe there is no set way someone should look, apply their makeup, do their hair, alter their body the way it already exists in the world. Yes, it can be easier to do these things, and you gotta do whatever you need to to survive. Ain’t no shame in that.
But it helps to know where all this s**t comes from. It doesn’t just simply exist. These rules have been formed over centuries of patriarchal, racist, hetrosexist, ableist bulls**t, bulls**t that gets rehashed in popular media over and over again. Bulls**t that we don’t necessarily have to buy into.
I’ve spent far too long shrinking myself, trying to fit. So I take what I want from beauty and fashion and leave the rest. Whaddaya say? Wanna make your own rules?
My mission:

✨ The Eco Glitta Bar for out-there sparkly fun JUST for adults (we need facepaints too!) suitable for all sorts of occasions such as birthdays, hen dos, wedding and corporate events
✨ Editorial and performance makeup for brands, performs and so on who need a professional to bring some quirk to their latest photoshoot or project
✨Makeup for individuals that have a special occasion they wanna show up for in a bright and bold fashion
✨ Costume makeup for individuals who need some help fulfilling their fancy dress vision with a bit (or a whole lot) of creative makeup
✨ One-on-one makeup consultations to help babes wanting to learn some skills or show up in the world a little differently using makeup
✨ Makeup workshops for group learning on confidence and makeup abilities so that you can have a whole group of babes cheer leading your newly acquired purple pout
...not to mention a whole bunch of bold, confident content from yours truly as I get made up, show up in the brightest way I can and get involved in various projects as a contributor and model.
