Would have been embarrassing if I’d failed to get this Connections row first.
I love wedding photography and it will show not only in the final product but throughout your day. My Instagram page is acronymphotography.

Acronym Photography is run by me, Simon, a friendly wedding photographer who although based in North Devon happily travels the South West (or even more happily somewhere exciting that means I get to use my passport). My website is accessed easily from www.weddingphotographydevon.com and acronymphotography.com if you’d like to learn more about me, see examples of my recent weddings, feedback and of
course the service and fees. Any questions or just to meet up for coffee and discuss your wedding-please get in touch.
Would have been embarrassing if I’d failed to get this Connections row first.
“Before and after”. Congratulations to the gorgeous Abbie and Lewis, married at yesterday. Such a lovely, generous couple; they spent the day checking that myself, videographer Caroline and Rockbeare’s coordinator Steph were happy! “That’s our job Abbie. Your job is to have fun”- which you did. In abundance. X Special thanks to the guests I talked into carrying you two on their shoulders, and for going along with it Abbie; what a great way to finish our time with you. Thanks guys!
Guess today’s venue. Winner gets a…. High hive.
Sometimes the guests can steal the show. 10th December
Congratulations and love to Izzy and Sam, married at the stunning St Audries House yesterday. When we met in July for a pre-wedding meeting we thought it might be fun to create a confetti shot indoors on the staircase. We had 4 speed lights, a step ladder, a 14-24 f2.8 lens, a Nikon z8 and handfuls of snow-like confetti but most worryingly: just one shot. Ordinarily I’m walking backwards through a row of guests, taking hundreds of shots- later looking for the right one- where confetti didn’t fall infront of faces and arms don’t block the view. Whilst I pre-visualised the shot and planned it with the couple, ultimately I had one shot. There wasn’t enough confetti for multiple flashes of my lights; it took me back to my film days. Thank you Izzy and Sam for trusting me, and for confetti gods for doing their thing. I’ve not even edited the shot yet (this is straight out of camera) -I’m excited to look through their other images from such a beautiful day.
"From the moment Simon arrived he put the entire Bridal party, and all the guests at ease, he was so much fun to be with and made the day even more special. The sneak peak photos we have seen already are absolutely breathtaking & he went above & beyond to make sure everyone was included in the big day! Simon you are amazing and the day would not have been the same without you, the Brides & our guests including little Miss Primrose all loved you! Thank you so much."
Congratulations to the beautiful Heidi and Georgia that were married this afternoon at the gorgeous Sandy Cove. What a fabulously hilarious group of family and friends; please give them my love.
How about rather than a few photos I share a whole gallery with you? Shall we try that? I don't think you'll look through them all necessarily but let's give it a go... rather than me choosing a few of my favourites you can see a whole gallery of images. When you book me for your wedding I provide an online gallery for you to share and download images from (usually about 100) - whilst you wait for your USB to arrive in the post with hundreds more on - in this instance 766 colour and an identical number in black and white. If you'd like to see more galleries there's a good selection on my website; meantime here's the link to Melanie and Stefan's wedding ........ ........ https://acronymphotography24.pixieset.com/melandpietro/

Meet Adele and Kit. They’re getting married here, in a birch church .holcombe in July next year. A birch church! - perfect if your partner just happens to be a tree surgeon. We reached it along this little winding path through the woods from the venue in Ottery St Mary. Perfect for couples seeking a relaxed countryside venue with glamping, farmhouse accommodation and a hobbit house for the wedding night. Luckily Adele booked my Platinum package which comes with the bonus of gorgeous weather. 🤞😉
Izzy and Sam, see you in December .
Katie and Josh were married on 29/04/2023 at Beaconside, here's a few of my favourites from their day and night.
I haven't posted a review on here for ages, but as Katie refers to me as a dreamboat I'd be foolish not to!!!
"Such a relaxing and fun photographer!
Simon is a dreamboat. Whilst getting ready he built rapport with all the bridal party making you feel like you have known him years and able to actually relax and enjoy being around a camera (something I am not normally comfortable with). He came early, was there all day and helped coordinate a gaggle of drunken adults to get all the group shots done on time. Which I can’t imagine was easy as they were a loud bunch! Simon then was there until the bitter end taking snaps. We got a few sneak peeks on the day, followed by his “top picks” 2 weeks later to have a USB of 900 pics in colour and black and white to go through when we return from honeymoon. Already LOVING the night pics of everyone just having a ball! Dancing, singing, being daft. Love them all! Thank you so much Simon for being a more personal photographer who captured the true essence of the day rather than staged and what would have been more awkward photos of me and the now hubby!!"
One of the more original photographs I've taken at a wedding. The bride Kayleigh spotted the angel wings on the wall at when viewing the wedding venue and after she'd posed for a photo this opportunity happened: a classic father and daughter portrait.
Holbrook Manor - Wedding Venue I found somewhere interesting to hang Kayleigh's dress
According to Facebook my followers are most active at 10pm on a Tuesday. What are you both doing up at this time? You crazy cats! Humility and sarcasm aside, have a quick look at these images from Amber and Saul's February wedding at Hallsannery in Bideford before you go do whatever people do at 10pm at night. Maybe do a little thumbs up or even better: recommend me to your friend Charlize.
Here's about 40 of my favourite photographs from Emily and Josh's wedding last month at Ash Barton (near Braunton in Devon) featuring breakfast, comedy handshakes, a bath, some cake, a polaroid camera, confetti, crazy dancing, basketball, a pool table, fireworks and a limbo competition. Meet Emily and Josh, this gorgeous couple were married at Ashbarton in Braunton on Valentines Day. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the courtyard created a tumble of wind that kept the confetti blowing around the couple even during some portraits afterwards. I don't know which of the images I love most, but that's the beauty of digital. I will give them all of them!

The beauty of using a full frame high megapixel camera is it allows a single images to be cropped like this to produce two square framed pictures. I’m excited for the 85mm f1.2.

As your wedding photographer I’ve chosen not to include wedding albums or large canvas prints into my prices. Although it is common practice for wedding photographers to include printing costs within their packages this often incurs an additional “middle-man” cost to you. Perhaps those photographers may feel incentivised to choose a printer based on cost rather than quality. I believe you are better served by ordering the prints or wedding albums directly from award winning companies like Whitewall. I believe the money saved, allows you to avoid cheap wedding photography or cheap wedding photographers and instead collaborate with those who see wedding photography as an art as well as a business.
You will look stunning on your wedding day, and my goal is to capture that forever. I think the telling of a story is vital: so I’d like to be there for you all day, from getting ready through to the speeches and into the evening.
I will create beautiful images for your wall, crafted on the day with lighting and scenery. I will also produce a reportage style story of your day, plus, of course, a vast selection of photos on your USB stick, the relevance of which will only become apparent years later when you flick back through them; forgotten faces and lost friends will return. Please get in contact, I’d love to hear more about your wedding.
I agree, charges for photography always look high, but "consider the longevity of these expensive services. The alcohol, food, and cake get flushed down the drain (quite literally). The venue and accommodations will serve as faint backdrops to your memories. The flowers will wilt and decorations, tossed away. The entertainment will be a ringing in your ears the following morning. Your makeup will be washed away and the hair slept on. Your wedding dress will remain, but there will never again be a practical occasion to wear it. Of all these unnecessary, impractical, and conspicuous expenses, the photo and video documents hold the most utility. Their value increases with time, having an inverse relationship to your recollection of the day."

Just had my first visit to #bickleymill for a #bickleymillwedding . Did someone say “where’s the photos of the money dance? I hear everyone was pinning money on the couple”- don’t worry, I’m editing them now….. @bickleymill
#doh #🤦🏼♀️ #🤦🏼 Make a note: Simon, if you’re going to ask grooms to throw fabulous bouquets it’s always worth checking that the bride has at least one hand free to catch it. #alwayslearning #hallsannery#hallsanneryhouse #hallsanneryweddingvenue
You never know when a wedding is going need a 5 metre length of rope! so as a wedding photographer it’s always worth having one in the boot of your car. Images of me having a go didn’t make the final edit. @littlequarme #weddingideas #skippingrope #jump #weddingskipping #weddinginspiration
Loving my cute little printer. Chloe and Kelsey are currently on honeymoon and I should have their photos edited and in the post for them when they get back. #busysimon. I’ll pop this in the box with their USB full of images. Thank you everyone at The Grand Hotel Torquay for looking after me at the weekend; gorgeous food. #grandhoteltorquay @the_grand_torquay

Hi. This is Kayleigh and Connor who were married at the fabulous Holbrook Manor in Wincanton on the 2nd of April. I'll share some photographs in the week.
My new favourite thing: using a drone in black and white to contextualise a couples wedding. This is the gorgeous Hallsannery, the wedding of Amber and Saul last month.
Meet Emily and Josh, this gorgeous couple were married at Ashbarton in Braunton on Valentines Day. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the courtyard created a tumble of wind that kept the confetti blowing around the couple even during some portraits afterwards. I don't know which of the images I like most, but that's the beauty of digital. I will give them all of them! Talking of weddings, My Nikon Z9 is married to my 50mm f1.2 ! During Emily and Josh's confetti walk the camera focused on their eyes as I walked backwards and confetti fell. It's really important to take as many photos as possible during this moment of a wedding to avoid delivering images of confetti in the couples face (we've all seen those ). Is it cheating to take 240 images of this part of the day? I wouldn't want to treat every section of a wedding day like this, but for this crucial moment l'm happy to use the best setting on the very best tools.Thank you Nikon. 240 images, every single one focused on the eyes. You nailed it with this camera and lens combo; and yes the 85mm is on pre-order. #ashbartonestate #weddingphotography #handfasting #paganwedding #confetti #confettiwalk #confettiwedding #nikonz9 #nikon Nikon
Want your business to be the top-listed Event Planning Service?
I think you can hire a photographer on 3 different levels:
1. As a commodity: solely based on price- the lowest price gets the job.
2. As a service: photo albums and printing are included in the price.
3. As an experience. You are hiring me. I like people. I know you might have been expecting me to use words like portrait, documentary and art, but honestly, the thing that makes me…me: is that I like people. It means that I blend into an event and record it from the inside rather than with the external eye of an observer. It means that I like making people happy by providing an experience above and beyond my promise. It means I understand the subtle nuances of body language and eye contact. It means I’m not just a storyteller, but a narrator. Regards, Simon.
