Recently my husband and I were talking about how crazy our life has been. We have said yes to some pretty wonderful things and met some pretty extraordinary people. In saying yes to photography, I pray you all know that this is so much more than a paycheck for me. For me, this has always been about the stories of people's lives. You may not like the way your house looks or the size of your pants. You may wish your skin was clearer or your yard was bigger... but in the end, when your generations look at your images, they will just see You. I pray you feel that way with me... that I just do not want to give you a pretty picture, but I want to be a part of your story... to walk with you through the years and watch the beauty of your life unfold. So thankful for so many of you that have let me be me as I follow you around with my shiny black box.

I have heard a lot of teachings on motherhood. I have listened to podcasts, sat in conferences, heard some pretty incredible speakers teach on the subject. But nothing hits me like when I see a true mother of love walk it out before me. I showed up to shoot a couple quick headshots for my friend Lynne who had brought her three precious boys to tag along. She was not planning a shoot with them or staging a perfect moment. She was just being mom. I kept capturing so many sweet moments of Lynne just loving her boys and it made my own mama heart burst.
Do you want to learn about motherhood? Take a mom out of coffee and just talk. Listen to the highs and lows. You would be amazed at what you learn.

I truly feel so joyful being with people as they celebrate big moments. This is so much more than income for me. I love creativity- I love photography and the beauty of art. But at my core, I truly truly love the stories of people. People fascinate me and make me feel all of the emotions. So do not be surprised if I cry 1-5 times during your wedding, even if I just met you. There is something about the celebration of a story that just gets to me. And I'm so happy that you let me be a small part.

If you have known my heart over the years you know how passionate I am about creating a space for people to run in the gifts God has given them. I love to teach people and watch the joy explode from deep within. There has never been anything like it... photographing stories is one small tiny part of why I love this part of my life. An even bigger part is watching people walk the journey with me and then go on to do their great story as I cheer them on.

Two years ago when I came back to photography I told my sister that I wanted my website to feel like camp. It was a word I kept hearing over and over in the deepest places of my heart. I wanted people to walk with me and feel as if they had just canoed through a week of joy and sat around a campfire called home. I wanted generational stories to be told- and more than a photo shoot I wanted people to be family. I had no idea what was around the corner.

you guys! Camp is coming. Camp is coming. Camp is coming. 😭 im crying as I write this because the faithfulness or God is so beautiful- and all of you who have heard my dreams will understand the joy I feel. it will ignite children of God of all generations to walk in creativity like they never have.

Our family cannot wait to share all the details with you. I cannot wait for you to walk in the forest of home with us. This page is about to see some beautiful changes and goodness. And you get to walk with us cheering us on as I have loved cheering you on.

I have always loved watching friends become mothers. Watching grow over the years from first meeting her as a high school senior to now capturing her joy filled face with her daughter makes me realize why I love capturing people's stories. Family Friday. Baby Lauren. My meemaw loathed all the geese that would gather and spread their "Choochie" on her porch. She would be swinging her broom with a fury scooting all of it into the lake. But that didn't stop us from feeding them. I had a huge fear of geese for the longest time because I fed them up close once when I was little and they snapped my finger. But as I grew, nothing was more comforting than watching those geese swim by while lying on a swaying dock.

There is such a special bond between siblings. Growing up my sisters and I fought hard- but we fought for each other way harder than against. If someone spoke a word against one of us, the other three would rouse quickly to defend. There is something quite tender in the relationship that says "I have been with you always, and I know how to keep a secret."

Family Friday. Today (and most days) I miss her. I miss her dancing the jitterbug with me on the blue carpet of her home. I miss long stories filled with laughter of her sleep walking naked to the front porch. I miss the encouraging voice cheering me on with every little thing I wanted to do in life. Backs scratches and deep humming, hammock naps, and coke & cookie swim breaks. She was truly alive. When women of true kindness leave the world, it makes a mark. Pick up the mantle they leave behind and lead with even greater fervor.

Happy Sunday. The past three weeks have been a blur. Our vacation was over the moon fun we then came home and puppy/home sat for my sister and then the sickness started. The past 9 days have been with very little sleep and juggling a house of sick littles. All while shooting 2 weddings and sessions. So today, when everyone was feeling stronger, we sat outside and ate dinner during the rain storm and laughed at our little Avi's joy through it all. I may not be posting images daily but I'm so thankful for this space. I'm thankful for clients that trust me with images... and turn into sweet friendships. So many of you have checked on us throughout the past two weeks, lifted us in prayer, and im so thankful. Sending you hugs wherever you are tonight.

💫 Change. I used to be so afraid of that word. Changing things mean stepping out of my comfort zone. It's trusting something different than what I am used to. But the older I get the *seemingly* wiser I get on understanding how BIG it is to want constant change because we want constant growth. I always loved seeing older people in my college classes because they were GROWING. I am a huge believer of living with a desire to always grow. To never feel "just right" but to want to learn more, aim higher, take more risks, run farther. You get it. All that to say, I have been taking pictures for years and yet I still want to grow... to change... to learn and expand. This month (and next month) I have been learning from other creatives... running alongside other photographers as I push myself into some new things. AND I AM SO EXCITED! Don't be afraid to grow. Don't be afraid of a little change.
