Garden of the Gods is a popular spot for elopements as well as for the general public to go and walk about marveling at the gorgeous rock formations and mountain views. That can present a challenge for the couple that wants privacy for their Garden of the Gods elopement. Fortunately, we know the lesser known sites here where we can tuck in for a private ceremony.
Elopements at Garden of the Gods can be held at any time of year. There was only a dusting of snow for Mary Margaret and Giulio's winter elopement, but it was enough to look amazing against the red rocks.

I remember their elopement like it was yesterday because it poured rain right up until their ceremony time. We were just about to divert them to plan B when the sun came out.

Photography for Garden of the Gods elopements can be tricky--especially in summer. The sun can be harsh--even later in the day--and if the photographer is not experienced in shooting here, it can make everything turn a weird shade of orange. Luckily, our photographers know how to compensate for the light. Lisa and Brady eloped with us at Garden of the Gods and their photos are gorgeous!

Anyone who knows me knows I have a weird relationship with birds. For some reason, I have been swooped upon by more birds (in several countries, no less!) than anyone I know. Most folks would look at this photo of one of our California elopements and think, "how cool is that???" whereas I just thank my lucky stars I wasn't actually present for this one. With my track record, all of the guests would have been pooped on!
So many couples think Sapphire Point Overlook is the bomb when it comes to places to elope in Colorado. But I've been doing elopements in Colorado since 2002, and I'm here to tell you, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Yes, it's beautiful, but it's oh-so-crowded and the new rules placed on the site as of this year are highly restrictive and make it almost impossible to get married there without a lot of challenges.
I can guide you in the direction of nearby sites that are equally as gorgeous and don't have the crowds and all of the downsides of getting married at Sapphire Point. This photo was one of our weddings from last winter at a site that we jokingly call "Sapphire Point Light." All of the beauty with none of the hassles.

Eloping doesn't mean you can't make a grand entrance. Brides ask me all the time if they can make an entrance escorted by Mom, Dad, the groom or another family member. Of course you can. Winter elopements in Colorado can be tricky since we never know what Mother Nature will dish out on the day of the wedding. But I knew from the minute I first spoke with Cody and Nikki that they'd be up for any kind of winter adventure.
We got quite a snow dump on the morning of their Breckenridge elopement, but the skies cleared foir their snowshoe trek through the trees to a secluded ceremony site. Just as we were finishing up their photo shoot, the snow starting coming down again. These two handled everything like old pros!

Wildly excited to have uncovered this little known gem close to Rocky Mountain National Park. A 10 minute relatively flat walk past a gorgeous meadow (complete with wildflowers) leads us to this breathtaking vista. Best of all? No permit fee or the crowds to contend with like you have if you elope at Rocky Mountain National Park. AND, they allow dogs!! Woods, meadow and mountain views! This one's a keeper.
