PROFILE - LUPHUMZO DAMBA (PHUMZO)

Bio

Luphumzo Damba, effectively known as Phumzo is a Cape Town based DJ. Born and raised in King Williams Town, in the Eastern Cape. Phumzo started DJing professionally about 10 years ago, starting off as an ordinary DJ playing all music genres using virtual DJ software. He then enrolled at KUE DJ academy, where he obtained his qualification as a professional DJ. This is where he found his identity within the DJ space, and is now settled as Deep House and Afro House DJ.

He is also a co-founder of an events company, Imbutho Events where together with his team have hosted a number of events within Cape Town. He has also

been part of the Night on the square, where they do musical events in Green Market Square, in the CBD.

He has had residency at Café Extrablatt, in Green Point, and Mesopotamia Restaurant in Cape Town. The following are some of the places his played at

DJ Mizz is a South African DJ & Producer based in Cape Town. DJ Mizz hails from a small village in the Eastern Cape known as Centane. DJ Mizz has spend most of his career in music as producer and is locally and internationally known for producing Afro, Tribal, Funk & House music As a DJ his sets are a strong Afro

Influence.

In his short career Mizz has already worked both locally and internationally with artist such as DJ Merlon & Mondli Ngcobo, Black Coffee, Sphectacula & DJ Naves, Khaya Mthethwa, Mpumi, S***a, Cuebur, Rabs Vhafuwi, D Malice, Nikos Diamantopoulos, Demor Sikhosana, Paso Doble, Thibo Tazz, Beaternberg to mention but a few.

Mizz is the co-producer of “Koze Kose" which in 2015 took over the South African Airwaves and charted at no.1 on almost every station in South Africa.

He is also a co-producer of “Counting Your Blessings" which was collaboration with Rabs Vhafuwi. Similarly this track charted on all major radio stations and is still a crowd pleaser on any dance floor.

In 2016 Mizz Released his first full body of work in the fem of the Album “Never Stop Dreaming”. The album is a reflection of Mizz’s journey translated through Music.

The album was released under Universal Music and featured collaboration with the sultry songstress Mpumi on the lead single titled “Kuwe”. This release made Mizz to be reckoned in the commercial South African house music scene as well globally in the Afro House scene.

In early 2017 DJ Mizz was nominated in the Best Remix Catergory at the Metro FM Awards for his song titled Close To You (Bob Ezy ft. Sanai Mizz afro Remix) and in the very same year he was nominated for Remix of the year in t
