ERIN & YANNICK ♥️ A true example that Cape Town wind can't destroy this kind of love ❤️
It is so obvious as to why Cape Town is a top wedding destination - Beautiful settings, gorgeous sunsets, outstanding food and wine, the list can go on and on...
BUT let's get real here - the weather. We can experience four seasons in one day 🌞☔💨🍂
EMBRACE it for what it is and let your planner stress about it for you 😂 Yes, we have sleepless nights about it, so that you can get your beauty sleep in!
Here are my top tips for weather backups
1. Please don't check any weather apps more than one week ahead of time. I usually start checking the weather about 3-4 days ahead of time but still make no concrete decisions there and then.
2. The two best apps out there: YR and Windy. Just ensure that you have the correct area. No point in checking Cape Town weather when you are getting married in Stellenbosch.
3. Brides (and grooms) tend to stress about rain or heat. I stress about WIND more than anything. Yes, you plan the most gorgeous alfresco set up and yes it looks amazing, but the wind can destroy that in a matter of seconds. Anything above 20km can be very unpleasant. (Imagine - knock out worthy heavy linen tablecloths, large breakage deposits on glassware, you got the drift)
4. Make sure your venue can accommodate the same number of guests outside and inside. When choosing your venue, make sure you love the inside as much as you love the outside. You will thank me later.
5. Don't be an eager beaver and book sun parasols too far in advance. You might need rain umbrellas instead.
6. Marquees and bedouin tents are only an option if the wind is not too strong. Again, don't book to far in advance as one will not know what the weather will be like closer to the actual wedding date.
7. Heaters and blankets are a game changer!
Long story short - get planner to worry about points 1-7 for you 😉
