We did it!!
We are thrilled to announce that we have officially won the bid to host WorldPride 2028 in Cape Town! This will mark the first time WorldPride is held on the African continent and we couldn't be more excited to welcome the global LGBTQ+ community to our beautiful city.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our incredible partners who supported this journey. Your dedication and passion made this dream a reality. Together, we will showcase Cape Town as a beacon of inclusivity and diversity.

We also want to extend our congratulations to Guadalajara Pride for their amazing efforts in this competitive bid. Your commitment to promoting LGBTQ+ rights is inspiring and we look forward to collaborating in the future.

🌈✨ Voices of Change: Insights from African LGBTQ+ Advocates!

We recently had the privilege of chatting to two inspiring activists, Stanley Okereke from Nigeria and Chimezie Christain Okeiyi, who are at the forefront of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in Africa. Here’s what they shared:

Stanley Okereke:
As the Executive Director of the Pride Health Initiative for Dignity and Rights, Stanley’s journey has been fraught with challenges, including stigma and limited access to justice. Yet, his resilience shines through! He believes that hosting WorldPride in Cape Town will not only amplify African LGBTQ+ voices but also foster global solidarity and understanding. “It’s a chance to spotlight our struggles and triumphs,” he states passionately. 🌍❤️

Chimezie Christain Okeiyi:
Chimezie echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of visibility at events like WorldPride. He envisions a future where inclusive policies are the norm across Africa, advocating for systemic change through community engagement and education. “Pride events help shift societal attitudes and build a sense of belonging,” he explains.

Together, they highlight the urgent need for global support in addressing anti-LGBTQ+ laws and mental health issues within the community. Their vision? An Africa that celebrates diversity and protects human rights for all.
