Conquer the Trails heads to Segwati Trails on the 24th of March for Race #3 in the series. Set on a 650-hectare game farm, Segwati Trails, with its beautiful, unspoilt views of the mountains and open plains where participants can run amongst the game, have a swim in an old converted reservoir in the middle of the open savannahs and enjoy some of the most scenic and pristine trails with plenty of diversity.

Well done to everybody who took part in the Brooks Cradle Cracker on Sunday Jodev Farms. The Brooks Cradle Cracker was an "All-Or-Nothing" race where only the 1st place finishers won something. This made for some interesting racing and each participants gave it their all!

Bongani Dlamini (1:57:03.168) and Marie Rabie (2:37:24.337) won the 28KM but were pushed hard the whole way by the other 28KM runners. Tranquil Gombo (1:22:00.188) and Nadine Brits (1:44:23.683) were comfortable winners of the 21KM distance with Geordan Harris (1:01:50.380) and Gillian Farquharson (1:07:03.571) taking first place on the 15KM route. Sikelela Mhlanga (48:09.316) and Cine Fraser (51:35.090) won the 10KM distance with Sebastian Walker (23:23.923) and Chere Davidovics (30:53.979) taking the 5KM podium places.

The next Brooks Cradle Cracker will be on the 14th of July!

The Backyard Ultra is a very different form of ultra-marathon running. Participants are required to run a 6.706km lap in less then one hour. These laps are then repeated on the hour, every hour until there is one person left. Sounds easy?!? Well, it isnt.

I knew the knysna extreme would be tough and it didn't disappoint. I had to dig deep from the very start. From feeling like I wasn't going to finish the swim, when I got stuck in some strong current. To having to find the courage to finish the cycle after a close encounter with a truck going way too fast and some strong winds that ended with me being blown off the road. All I wanted was to get to the run, my strongest discipline. Only to have my knee hurt so badly that I had to walk the last 6km. My body wanted me to stop but I started the race with the mindset that I would finish it no matter what.

There was a moment where I thought maybe this is too much now and maybe I'm not cut out for this, but I had come too far to call it quits. The whole reason I wanted to take part in this incredible race was to push the limits. To keep going even when every fibre in my body was telling me to stop. All I needed to do was cross that finish line. I will never forget that feeling of being in the dark forest, finally hearing that bell and walking through the finish. Overwhelmed with mixed emotions of feeling so dead, yet so alive and utter euphoria.

It truly is a one-of-a-kind experience
