𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 “𝐈 𝐝𝐨.”

What I didn’t know then was that this day would become the heartbeat behind 𝘉𝘺 𝘉𝘭𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴. Our wedding ignited something in me - a deep love for the beauty, the meaning, and the emotion woven into a celebration of two souls choosing forever.

Having been a bride myself means I understand what this day truly feels like - the anticipation, the joy, the sacred quiet moments in between. It’s why I pour so much of myself into every couple’s story. I know what matters. I know how fleeting those moments are. And I know what a privilege it is to be trusted with them!

To celebrate seven years of marriage, Sean and I returned to one of our favourite places - La Cotte Farm - for a little love story of our own, captured so beautifully by Lizelle Goussard, whose work I admire wholeheartedly.

We have recently celebrated Heritage Day in South Africa, and it has me reminiscing about Carmen & Alex’s extraordinary celebration at the exquisite Tokara Estate in Stellenbosch - a wedding as soulful as it was spectacular.

Carmen and Alex journeyed from New York to exchange their vows beneath Tokara’s majestic mountains and rolling olive orchards, carrying with them not just a love story, but a vision. Two years in the making - with a postponement through Covid and a move across continents from Switzerland to New York - their grace and calm never wavered.

Their brief to me was 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘈𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯, and together we brought this dream to life with details that told a story of heritage and heart. Their multi-day celebration featured 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘵: Shwe-shwe fabric reimagined into bespoke accessories, hand-printed Malian mud cloth napkins treasured by each guest, intricate beadwork and woven baskets, soulful Cape Malay cuisine, the rhythm of African drumming, and a signature Amarula cocktail to toast it all. Every detail was curated with intention, weaving together culture, romance, and timeless elegance.

Carmen & Alex, what an honour it was to pour my heart into your vision. Your wedding, and the journey we shared leading up to it, will forever remain one of my greatest highlights. Choosing my favourite frames from your day was an impossible task, so I did the only thing I could: share an entire album’s worth ;)

Some weddings feel like they were written in the stars long before the day arrived…✨

From our very first conversation, Shayna and James trusted me completely with their vision - no mock-ups, no second-guessing - just a quiet faith that allowed me to dream freely on their behalf. Inspired by Shayna’s luminous auburn hair and the gentle whisper of early autumn, I painted their day in shades of ivory, cream, and the softest brushstroke of cinnamon 🧡

On the morning of their wedding, nature sent her blessing in the smallest, sweetest form: ladybugs appearing as if on cue, even settling beside them during their first look and private vow exchange. A gentle reminder, perhaps, that love is lucky - and meant to be cherished.

The ceremony, officiated by James’ father, overflowed with tender words and unwavering joy. From there, the jazzy notes of saxophone drifted across the gardens, leading guests to a dappled canopy for boules, croquet, and lavish canapés. Inside, the reception glowed beneath whimsical draping that swept across the ceiling like soft cotton clouds.

The evening unfolded in waves of laughter and tears, heartfelt speeches, and a first dance beneath sparklers; the dance floor alive until the stars themselves began to fade.

Shayna & James, thank you for allowing me to create a space that told your love story so beautifully. I’ll never forget the magic of this day, and the love that was so clearly celebrated by every person present. It was the kind of day you carry with you… like a tiny, perfect sign you’ll never forget! 🐞
