Under the canopy of Johannesburg's blooming jacaranda trees, Kirstin and Roberto celebrated their love in a garden-style wedding at a charming private heritage home on the Westcliff Ridge. The couple, whose cultural backgrounds beautifully intertwined Chinese and Portuguese traditions, created an atmosphere of elegance and warmth with their chosen colour palette of peach, cream, and blue.

Their special day began with a heartfelt Catholic wedding service followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, which was a beautiful blend of tradition and reverence honoring Kirstin's heritage.

As the sun began to set and cast a golden hue over the manicured gardens, guests were treated to a culinary delight, featuring a sumptuous paella that paid homage to Roberto's Mediterranean roots, accompanied by Paul's homemade ice cream and an array of delicious Portuguese desserts perfectly complementing the serene and picturesque setting. The air was filled with laughter, joy, and the sweet fragrance of country-style blooms, making the afternoon a truly unforgettable experience.

Kirstin and Roberto, your love was palpable on your wedding day and a real testament to the beautiful journey that you have embarked on together. Your wedding was a perfect blend of romance and sophistication and a true reflection of your unique love story ✨

In the golden embrace of Autumn, where every leaf whispers secrets of the earth and the air hums with the soft melodies of change, I present our enchanting vignette, "Autumn Melodies." 🍁🍂

Imagine a scene where nature's palette dances in hues of burnt orange, deep burgundy, and rustic gold, each color telling a love story as timeless as the season itself.

The setting is the idyllic countryside, where the gentle breeze carries the scent of pine and the sound of crunching leaves underfoot. The reception dinner table is one where everything is bountiful and overflowing in keeping with the Mediterranean aesthetic - being earthly and wildly romantic while also being an authentic extension to the beautiful arch the table was set under. Candles flicker softly, casting a warm, inviting glow that reflects in the eyes of two lovers lost in each other's gaze.

Our bride, draped in a flowing gown that echoes the grace of falling leaves, moves like a whisper through the forest. Her bouquet is a wild symphony of autumnal blooms, each petal a note in a song of romance and passion. The groom, in his timeless attire, stands steadfast, his love as enduring as the mighty oaks that surround them.

As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a golden sheen across the landscape, it feels as though time itself pauses to witness their love. It was our own magical day, on October 20, 2018, that ignited the spark within me, leading me down the path of wedding planning and design. It’s hard to believe that it has been six months since this remarkable weekend for Kristen and David, who travelled from Austin, Texas for their intimate wedding celebration at the idyllic La Cotte Farm in the Franschhoek valley.

Welcoming their guests to a destination as meaningful as this to the couple was like letting their guests into a little part of their history.

From the itinerary of events and activities (welcome sundowners at their favourite bar in Cape Town, a morning group hike, and a cruise on the Victoria & Alfred waterfront) to the extraordinary views, to the intentionality behind every detail with a sophisticated retro feel; this weekend was the epitome of a destination wedding that still felt like home and an extension of Kristen and David at every turn.

Fields of white lace flowers danced in the breeze and climbing bougainvillea-covered walls painted a backdrop while overlooking mountain and vineyard views. Chilled hibiscus tea, Aperol spritz, springbok tartare, Franschhoek trout, and of course, short rib tacos and American-style hot dogs were among the few delights that guests were served. The tablescape came alive in front of guests’ eyes with the most impeccable blooms in a kaleidoscope of colour, chandeliers perched above the tables, and an array of vintage details handpicked by the bride. The dancefloor was electric as guests danced late into the night to the sounds of an Afro-Jazz band under shimmering disco ball pendants.

Effortlessly chic in every way and meaningful to the core, this weekend was all about welcoming guests to an extraordinary place close to Kristen and David’s hearts and sharing the beginning of their next chapter together. From the locale, to the fashion, to the itinerary of events, to the band and the stationery detail, it was an unforgettable wedding and one I’ll cherish forever!

Kristen and David, I loved every minute of our short time together and I am so glad our paths crossed. Your patience, calmness and artistic flair is something to be admired. I wish you all the best in this next chapter of your lives together, and hope to welcome you to South Africa again soon!

Celebrating Nyfi Bridal’s new collection of exquisite gowns adorned with luxurious lace applique and sleek modern silhouettes, this breathtaking editorial epitomizes luxury and romance.

The pastel colour palette – blush, lilac, ivory, and champagne – was wonderfully suited to the irresistible atmosphere of this private estate in the heart of Westcliff, and was expertly translated into summery, airy, and dreamy floral arrangements of garden roses, delphinium, lisianthus and hydrangeas.

Embellished with magnificent jewels and glowing, elegant hair and make-up, you’ll find me dreaming of magical moments in Positano all weekend long!

It is a dream come true to have our 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘬 & 𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 editorial featured internationally on The White Wren

Tenderness, poetic detail, and an ode to beauty form a romantic unity in this enchanting vignette. Our aim was to create something exceptionally delicate, feminine, romantic, and ethereal in style.

The idea that something so stunningly beautiful can at the same time feel both effortless and unspoken is awe-inspiring! That was our goal of this shoot: to create a garden-inspired look that embodied the effortlessly romantic nature of a lush garden while incorporating a touch of modern elegance. The all-white colour palette, no lace gown, and modern tablescape all came together seamlessly - bringing our vision for a modern, garden-inspired wedding to life.

Our colour palette was inspired by the beauty of the spring season, blooming trees, and flowers that exude a sense of freshness. In addition to the enchanting floral masterpieces, it was the bride herself who was seen as artwork and as the epitome of perfection.

For me, this vignette celebrates the themes of patience, stillness, and new chapters in life. These concepts are so poignant for me currently, but are also key for couples embarking on a new season in their lives. Creating a juxtaposition between old and new, modern and romantic depicts that timeless beauty never fades – perfectly blending the romance of garden weddings, with a touch of modern elegance!

Natasha and Prince’s intimate 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤 was simply magical! Filled with hundreds of luxury white roses and thousands of twinkling candles, guests wined and dined the night away under the stars...

When Natasha and I met for the first time, it was like meeting with an old friend. We laughed and dreamed and laughed some more. Her brief to me was simple: “Blythe, I want roses and candles everywhere!”

There are so many beautiful moments from this special day that I will cherish forever. Natasha and Prince, thank you for sharing this new season of your lives with me. Your day was truly remarkable!

Today, I invite you to bask in an endless state of sunshine and enjoy the light and airy details from our winter styled vignette. Inspired by the annual flourishing of citrus orchards in the cooler months in South Africa, it aims to celebrate the beauty of the countryside and radiates a fine line between luxury and simplicity – where every detail feels increasingly opulent, yet beautifully understated.

One of my favourite aspects of this design was the colour story – our delicate palette blended yellow and pale pink to create a soft sunset melody that bloomed against the flourishing lemon orchards at Casalinga.

As you continue the wedding planning process, two major guides will help you along your way – your wedding planner and your venue coordinator.

And although these titles may sound similar, it’s important not to confuse the two. While both roles may have overlapping duties, they are very separate entities indeed!

Your venue coordinator deals with aspects of the venue itself. They are typically a paid employee of the venue and are responsible for ensuring the venue’s staff and all venue facilities are ready for your celebration. They often manage multiple events at once and thus may not have time to devote themselves to your wedding alone. Whilst you may have regular interactions with your venue coordinator, your planning and strategizing remains the responsibility of your 𝘸𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳.

The venue is just one portion of the wedding process. Your wedding planner is responsible for overseeing and managing ALL aspects of your wedding day from beginning to end. We recruit your dream team of suppliers, act as a central point of contact, and ensure all the finer details (from concept and design, to timelines and logistics) are perfected and thoroughly thought through. We are there for YOU - to ensure that everything you envision comes to life! ✨
