Freedom Sisanda Mashabane, otherwise popularly known as DJ Zonke is a self-taught DJ, Producer, Graphic Designer and founder of “PowerHouse Ent”, where he currently stands as the CEO. He was born and raised in Mpumalanga, Mbombela at a small township called Shabalala.
Early Life With the love of music at the age of 13 DJ Zonke introduced himself to the house music scene, as of 2007 he made and met friends in school whom he shared the same interests with. His passion for music and being a DJ grew drastically as he started being hands-on with his craft playing in Taverns, Weddings and just about any event which he sought to showcase his skills. The then stage name of his was DJ Madlazonke which is now cut-in short to DJ Zonke.
In 2011 DJ Zonke was taken under-a-wing by a local prominent musician, whom owned a DJs development academy, at this academy DJ Zonke sharpened his DJ skills with major classes on the basics of DJ Mixing, Song Selection and to connecting sound equipment’s & balancing audio mixes.
After his time at the academy his name gained momentum in the music scene around the province as he had advanced to playing in big Clubs, Pubs and or Bars, his mixes got air-play on a SABC radio station Ligwalagwala FM and had the privilege to play along side sought-after DJs such as Black Coffee, Lulo Café, Ralf GUM, Fistaz Mixwell, Fresh, Ganyani and many others. His playing style has long been easy to drool into as he is able to read crowd moods, blend-in the right beats to stir momentum and get party-goers up on the feet.
2013-Present
In 2013 a local radio station called BCR FM aired his mix on a show. Since this time his name has grown very big, He's a qualified Sound Engineer (Diploma) and is respected by other DJs of his locality. DJ Zonke plans on growing his company PowerHouse and ensuring his group PowerHouseDJs does recognize other aspiring talents in the music scene.
