This year, we decided to do away with rating our gardens in terms of first, 2nd, and 3rd place, as they all were a delight! Each participant received a certificate, reflecting the judges' impressions. This is what they wrote:
"Category: Large Gardens - 7 Seabreeze Crescent by Isabelle & Tom Spies
What a delight! As you enter through the bottom gate, you are filled with a sense of calm and gentleness and then you emerge into a beautiful space of abundant colour and joy. The garden has been well-designed with screening trees that protect from the sight of neighbours’ houses. It feels removed from the rest of the world, with magnificent views of the mountain and valley beyond. The mixed plantings are particularly pleasing, with succulents, perennials, herbs and fruit trees all co-existing wonderfully. Beautiful pathways lead you through the garden which contains a multitude of found treasures and artworks. I left (reluctantly) via the small pond at the bottom of the garden, where children were delighted by the antics of frogs and dragonflies. I could have stayed for hours and appreciated the joy and love that has gone into creating this wonderful healing space."
