TIPS FOR YOUR RECEPTION VENUE CONTRACT
Your wedding venue will soak up almost half of your budget (if not more), so don’t leave anything to chance. Before you sign, make sure your contract covers these key points:
•Name and contact information for you and the venue
•Date and time frame of your reception (the average dinner-and-dance reception is about four hours—longer if it includes the ceremony)
•Exact names of specific room(s) to be used
•A detailed description of your reception space, including the décor (if provide by venue)
•What time other pros (decor stylist, florist, DJ) will be able to set up
•Approximate number of guests and number of tables to be set up (include a floor plan if possible)
•An itemised list of what the site will provide (from waiting staff, linen, plus special services such as a coatroom and valet parking)
•The name of the manager who will be on hand on your wedding day and the name of an acceptable substitute
•Proof of insurance and liquor license
•Anything else you agree to orally that you want set in stone
•Setup, cleanup, overtime and any other fees
•Total cost (itemised)
•Deposit amount due
•Balance and date due
•Cancellation and refund policy

Sign it and breathe a sigh of relief! Your biggest decision (after choosing to get married, of course) has been made. The rest of your planning will now begin to fall into place—we premise.

CHOOSE THE PERFECT VENUE
3 Things to Consider

1. How many guests do you want, and how mobile are they?

Is your dream wedding small or a Broadway-worthy production? Your answer may determine the location. Why? Even though the day is about you, it’s also about your guests. If your closest friends all have toddlers, is it fair to request their presence at a safari wedding in South Africa? If relatives are elderly, can you expect them to make it safely to the beach? You won’t be able to please everyone, but consider making a concession or two if it means your loved ones will attend.

2. Do you want a religious ceremony?

Less than fifty percent of couples get married in a church. A few things to consider:

•A traditional religious ceremony may have to be held in a place of worship, so be sure to ask up front. (In that case, book the date at your place of worship before you book your reception location.) Also, some religious establishments frown upon elaborate decorations or flowers as well as skin-baring dresses, so inquire about these details.
•If you and your fiancé have different religious beliefs, consider having the ceremony at a neutral location, like a reception hall. Talk early on with both families about your decisions.
•If organised religion does not play a role in your lives but you want to incorporate a spiritual element, consider hosting the ceremony in a natural setting, such as a beach or a park (be sure to ask about a permit).

3. How much work are you willing―or do you want―to take on?

Depending on the location, you may have to do some heavy lifting. Before you commit to an “I do”-it-yourself undertaking, weigh the positives and negatives of these settings:

•A unique location:You may have your heart set on a big wedding-day hoedown in a barn, but who’s going to clear out the hay, haul in the tables, set up the Porta Potties, arrange for lighting, and―oh, yeah―move Bessie out to pasture? There’s also Mother Nature to keep in mind. If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or reception, you’ll need a backup plan in the case of rain, which means twice as much work.
•A reception hall: The establishment usually has a one-size-fits-all feel, but its staff is probably well equipped to take care of the dirty work for you, which may include―and this is important―post-party cleanup

WHEN TO BOOK YOUR VENUE. Your first step in planning your wedding should be to create a workable budget. You should know not only how much you can spend overall, but what you can spend for each wedding professional. (I will give tips on budget in next week's addition)

Once you know what you can spend for each of your vendors, jump right in and start searching online, in magazines, by asking friends, and by attending bridal shows. ( Three weeks ago I added some dates of wedding expos and events). Then, once you are comfortable with a vendor, don’t hesitate to ask for a contract. There may be several brides vying for his or her services on your wedding day.

Keep in mind, while I am telling you to not waste time when finding your ideal wedding vendors, I am not suggesting that you be careless while doing it. Make sure you ask good questions, check references, and read your contracts carefully.

DIY HOMEMADE BATH SALTS
After a long, busy day, there's nothing better than a hot bath -- except, of course, a hot bath enriched with fragrant bath salts. It's surprisingly easy to prepare your own blend at home.

YOU NEED
Coarse sea salt,
Epsom's salts,
Bicarbonate of soda,
Essential oils,
Food coloring and
Some dried rose or lavender petals (herbs can also be used)

STEPS
1.In a large bowl, mix to combine: 6 parts coarse sea salt; 3 parts epsom salts, to soothe tired muscles and reduce inflammation; and 1 part bicarbonate of soda, to soften waters and alleviate skin irritation.

2.Add a few drops of essential oils, and combine.

3.Add a few drops of food coloring, until you achieve the desired shad.

4.Add the dried flows.

5. Place it in containers and label. When you want to use boxes or organza bags you must first put it in a small plastic bag. Here are some ideas I got from the Internet.

WINTER WEDDING GUEST FAVOURS Your guest will feel so special if they receive a gift that was handmade with love. Next week I will publish a few winter diy wedding guest favour ideas with instructions. Here are some ideas I got from the internet. Hot chocolate in a bag or hot chocolate on a stirring stick that your guest can take home and enjoy with hot milk. Coffee beans in a bag or cinnamon coffee in a personal disposable coffee mug. There is nothing that beats the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning. Homemade German gluhwein in a personalised liquor glass bottle. It will definitely kick the cold away. Personalised lip balm sticks or make your own and put it in a small glass container or tin for those cracked and dry lips. Scented candle in a jar or tin to light up those cold nights. Scented bath salts with dried rose or lavender petals for those long warm baths. Honey or homemade jam in a personalised glass jar and who will say NO to chocolates or sweets for those winter cravings.
