It's October and we are so happy to introduce our beautiful October artpiece of our Collaborative Botanical Calendar of 2022 by the talented .kanja

“Flourish in Surrender” - pen illustration with watercolour

My name, Lenka, means bright one, light, illumination. I create from a curious observation of people and situations to bring Truth to light.

Kanja (originally spelled ‘Khanya’) is a South African name, which means enlightenment; to shine.

Lenka + Kanja = Lenkanja. A light twice as bright, with rays resembling life-giving lines.

This is my life’s work, merely an extension of who I was called and created to be.

“Flourish in Surrender”:

There is a freedom that exists only in letting go. A freedom to flourish in all you were created to be. Not by doing (performing/achieving), but in becoming.

With this illustration I celebrate the LIFE that is found in surrender. When we yield control of our lives to the Creator of all, His fulness will live in and through us.

"I am a watercolour artist who frequently draws inspiration from everyday objects and finds from nature. I am intrigued by the detail found in nature and the continuous change as plants sprout, bloom, wilt and shrink away.''

''Living in the industrial town of Vereeniging, Gauteng, not your typical botanist’s attraction, I have learned to home in on the miraculous details that the high-veld climate brings. I have found the most elegant, dancer-like, lines in the dried wild oats that grows along the sidewalk.
