The African Human Rights Moot Competition Final hybrid event we did for Stellenbosch University. Included Portuguese and French live interpreters, AV in two rooms and the live stream. The head judge was Thuli Madonsela herself!

On Thursday we helped host a hybrid conference for the African Human Rights Moot Competition for the University of Stellenbosch. We designed a full dedicated microsite for the event and we had both live and virtual speakers, including an opening statement from Justice Edwin Cameron. The event included interpreters, who were also broadcast through different audio stream options for the virtual arm of the event.

We loved working on this unique conference!

Virtual Event Organisers spent Heritage Day in a live stream hybrid event for the African Human Rights Moot Competition at the Law Faculty of the University of Stellenbosch. Prof Thuli Madonsela was the presiding judge. More pics to follow next week post announcements.
As we celebrate Heritage Day, it is an honour to be a part of and witness the youth of Africa competing for human rights.

With the lockdown levels easing up, live events are beginning to open up. These are still relatively small gatherings and companies are combining the face to face events with a virtual element to still reach a broader audience - some of whom might be in a different city, some of whom might still be nervous about public interaction and some of whom prefer the convenience of attending from wherever they are.

Virtual events take as much pre-planning as live events. In some cases even more (speakers need tech dry runs on platforms, visual elements such as straplines need to be designed and approved, camera crew need to be booked, independent internet set up etc.). What with working from home and social distancing, so many of us are feeling disconnected - from each other and from ourselves. Virtual Event Organisers are working with a number of specialists who are finding ways to help people reconnect. Attendees walk away from the experience feeling like they have gained something and are more likely to attend the next event. Beyond that, in the bigger picture, it is contributing to a much needed greater sense of wellness, calm and connection.

What is the difference between hosting a virtual event on standard MS Teams or Zoom or hosting a virtual event on an event platform?
Basically the same difference between hosting an event in your boardroom versus hosting an event at a venue. Platforms offer more functionality, more branding opportunities and engages the attendee with something that is a little out of the ordinary from daily experience.
