A milestone it has been🔥
I can’t believe that it’s been a decade since I leaked my first ever release (Sarafina bootleg) which became a build up to all the work that I’ve done.
A decade of hard work,
A decade of dedication,
A decade of achievements,
A decade of failures,
A decade of making mistakes and learning from them,
A decade of being supported,
A decade of being criticized,
A decade of being celebrated,
A decade of being hated,
A decade of avoiding competition,
A decade of making music,
A decade of DJ Catzico,
It all started from my grandparents garage where I would practice music production every week for hours, it took me 4 years to release a song and fortunately by the grace of God it blew up on the streets. From then it took me another 4 years to achieve a goal of being a mainstream producer and I have to say that my journey hasn’t really been an easy one, I’ve faced a lot of challenges of which eventually I overcame & most of the people that I started with gave up along the way but here I am still standing because to me it was never about making music for the sake of getting famous, it’s a calling, it’s fate, it is something that I cannot control or ignore. 10 years ago I dropped my first song and 10 years later I’m dropping my first project and that is what is called not “rushing the process”, some people that I started with are far ahead than me and vice versa I am far ahead from some but that doesn’t bother me at all because I know that yonke into ineskhathi sayo, not all runners reach the finish line at the same time, slow progress is better than no progress & slow movement is better than no movement at all.
In a decade I’ve had many achievements and many set backs, I’ve made friends & I’ve also made unwanted enemies who first became friends and then turned to enemies. In a decade I’ve learned to understand that not all the friends you have are your friends, some are just a part of your life because of what you can do for them & once you stop doing things for them they turn to enemies within a blink of an eye. Im glad that I still have some of the people that I started with by my side who have always been loyal to me, like myself they may not be perfect but they stuck with me & cheered for me through thick & thin & im really grateful for having these people in my life, they know themselves.
What a journey it has been, sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that I started as a young boy in the township of Umlazi not knowing where this journey would take me but I found myself producing for the biggest Artists not only at home but in Africa, through my work I was able to get 2 Sama nominations & 1 Afrima nomination. Even though I did not win the awards but according to me being nominated with artists that I’ve always looked up to was a big win.
I might have not achieved all that I’ve always wanted to achieve but with the experience that I’ve gained through all these years I’m going to continue to make more music and inspire others and if possible open doors for others. the journey doesn’t end here, I’ve learned a lot behind the scenes and I’m going to continue with observing & learning from others because the journey is far from over and it is going to be a bumpy ride.
Stay tuned, is on the way with 6 tracks that best describes my sound & It’s a 100% DJ Catzico production🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for not giving up on me, one love ❤️
