We, the House Andries Olivier Durbanville Quadriplegic Centre residents, greet all our wonderful friends, our amazing supporters and our valued sponsors during this time of global crisis. We all are well and doing what we can to implement preventive measures to combat this invisible virus. We trust that you are all doing so as well.
Lockdown: We are not sure what to expect going forward. All we can do is pray for each other and trust in our Lord Christ Jesus
Lockdown impacts on the lives of all who live in South Africa, we are all affected and need to do what is required to keep ourselves safe. For us, one of the most concerning aspects of the impact of lockdown is our income! As we depend on fundraising initiatives and the support of the public for our sustainability we are very concerned as the lockdown has brought our fundraising initiatives to a halt. All of the events and initiatives which we had planned and were in the pipeline have had to be placed on hold until the lockdown is over and the Corona Virus Pandemic a thing of the past. Unfortunately, we don't only have to worry about the possible impact of the virus on our health, but also on the financial well-being of our Centre.
We are doing what we can to cut costs, with our main concern being the payment of our staff. These "carers" are our hands, eyes and feet and do for us what we are unable to do for ourselves. Our staff members are fantastic souls and without them, we would be lost. All of our residents are paraplegics or quadriplegics, with the quadriplegic residents in particular dependent on our staff for assistance with daily tasks. The staff see to all the personal requirements such as bathing, feeding and dressing etc of the quadriplegic residents and, importantly, take care of the pressure care requirements of residents ensuring that they do not get life-threatening pressure/bed sores.
In this time of crisis and great need, we reach out to one and all and humbly request assistance in any way possible towards our financial needs. One of our fundraising initiatives is our Club 500 and we would be extremely grateful if you would consider becoming a member. Our successful Club 500 sees members donate a minimum of R50.00 (or more) on a monthly basis. Payment can be made via Stop order, EFT or an annual lump sum payment. Should you require further information please inbox us and we will make contact with you.
There are other ways one can assist us, for example: Assisting us with essentials though Checkers online shopping Milk, Bread, etc. We are extremely grateful for each and every contribution and support that we receive, we appreciate it more than words can adequately express.
God bless your kind and caring heart Amen.
