PIEKNIEK & MUSIEK AT NEDERBURG ON 19 NOVEMBER: YOUR ESSENTIALS GUIDE
We can’t wait to welcome you to the third edition of the Cape’s favourite family-friendly Afrikaans outdoor music festival, Piekniek en Musiek - Nederburg Sessions, on 19 November at the picturesque farm in Paarl.
The event will feature some of South Africa’s most-loved Afrikaans music stars including headliners Kurt Darren, Robbie Wessels and Will Linley. Me and Mr Green as well as The Betsies will feature as supporting acts.
We know you have your tickets confirmed, but might be wondering about the details. So, we’ve compiled this handy guide to help you make your upcoming Piekniek & Musiek experience one for the books!
Please note the following:
TIMES
Gates open at 11:00, and the musical performances start at 14:00. Arrive early to select the best spots on the lawn!
TICKETS
VERY IMPORTANT: Before leaving home, please go into your Ticketmaster.co.za account and either download your tickets to your mobile device OR physically print them. This will make your entry process smooth and simple.
ENTRY TO FARM
Feel free to arrive early but please have your driver’s licence (only the driver of the vehicle) and ticket/s (printed or downloaded onto your mobile phone), ready to show at the boom, as no vehicle is granted access without having the driver & vehicle license scanned.
PARKING
There’ll be sufficient parking available on-site. Please follow the instructions given by the parking attendants.
WEATHER
SUN PROTECTION
To keep yourself and your family, friends and/or children protected from the summer sun, please bring your own sun hats, sunscreen and sun umbrellas. All umbrellas must be closed during the musical performances for maximum visibility for all.
PICNIC BLANKETS, LOW CHAIRS & CUSHIONS
Please bring your own picnic blankets, low chairs, and cushions for a super-comfy picnic experience.
FOOD/SNACKS, PICNIC BASKETS, PLATES, CUTLERY & NAPERY
There’ll be plenty of vendors on-site serving up a delicious array of picnic-style foods. We encourage you to support them, but you may bring your own picnic basket with food and snacks. Only plastic or biodegradable plates, knives, forks, spoons and serviettes/napkins will be allowed on-site to ensure everyone’s safety. Trash cans will be stationed around the premises, please use these to dispose of food, drink and other general waste.
LIQUID REFRESHMENTS & ICE
No beverages or ice may be brought onto the premises, not even water or cool drinks. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the bar areas and via some of the food stalls. Ice will be available to purchase from the bars at R60 per chill bag.
PLASTIC GLASSES (NO GLASS ALLOWED!)
We’re aiming to keep the event glass-free so as to ensure the safety of all attendees. Plastic glasses will be available from the bar at a refundable deposit of R10 per glass.
PAYMENTS
The event is cashless. All payments will be handled via Howler, where you sign up (using the same e-mail address used to purchase your event ticket/s), load funds and get a wristband to be tapped at pay points to make purchases with your preloaded credit. Top-ups can be done at stations available on-site. Remember to keep your wristband to cash-out any left-over funds via the website. Click here for more information.
GAMES
Remember to bring along your favourite board games or playing cards.
POWER BANKS
Bring your own power bank to keep your mobile phone charged and ready to capture all the star-studded action.
ELECTRICITY
Although we’ll have generators as a back-up in the case of an electricity outage, we’d like to kindly ask that you bear with the food vendors and the bar staff, should there be a slight delay in your order.
CHILDREN
We’ll have child-minders available to help you relax and enjoy the show, but please remember, your child remains your responsibility and not that of Nederburg, HEINEKEN Beverages (Nederburg’s parent company) or any of the service providers or staff members.
HAVE FUN, BUT BE MINDFUL
We encourage you to have as much fun as possible, but also be mindful of everyone around you, especially while the artists are performing. As far as possible, please do not block other concert-goers’ view of the stage.
RESPONSIBLE DRINKING
We take the responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages very seriously. Please DO NOT drink and drive. Rather call a ride-hailing or taxi service and leave your vehicle at the venue for collection at a later stage, at your own risk. Nederburg, HEINEKEN Beverages (Nederburg’s parent company), service providers and staff member cannot be held liable for any damages.
SECURITY & EMERGENCY SERVICES
Trained security staff will be patrolling the event to ensure the safety of all guests. Emergency medical services will also be on-site.
MERCHANDISE
Caps and t-shirts will be offered for sale at designated points.
CAMERAS/RECORDING DEVICES
Professional photographic, audio and video equipment, is prohibited in order to prevent unauthorised infringement on the publishing, music and other rights, owned by the artist. You will not be allowed to capture the show unless you are an accredited photographer/videographer with a recognised publication or media owner. Non-professional and mobile phone cameras are acceptable. For the avoidance of doubt, any camera with a detachable lens, and/or of a SLR (Single Lens Reflex) type is considered “professional” in terms of this provision.
WHAT NOT TO BRING
No gazebos, braais, illegal drugs, skateboards, scooters, roller blades or bicycles, portable speakers, drones, knives, weapons of any nature or fireworks; digital, electronic or other recording or broadcast device; any item that you intend to distribute, hawk, sell, offer, expose for sale or display for marketing or promotional purposes; no animals apart from authorised guide/companion dogs.
