A community based business reflects the importance of supporting our local farmers. One such farmer is Megan from Essenwood Dairy, just 2km from the hotel. This micro dairy is a calf at foot dairy, meaning that when their cows calf, the calves are never removed from their mothers and left to raise their own calves and share their nutrient dense, raw milk with us. The milk in our opinion is healthier, stress free and all cows are grass fed in the beautiful KZN Midlands. This adds exceptional health benefits. Big shout out to Essenwood Dairy who welcome visitors to their dairy. When staying at Halliwell Country Inn please ask for a glass of this exceptional milk with breakfast. We love sharing our history. Found this gorgeous old photo from 1979/80 that shows the additional rooms that were added to the Courtyard around the still existing lemon, orange, grapefruit and plum trees. These trees still bear fruit to this day and their for our guests to enjoy!

A year ago, a close friend of Halliwell rescued this beautiful Ecephalartos Villosus and found it a very special space in our garden. A year later, estimated to be between 40 and 90 years old, its flowering new growth for hopefully the next 100 years. Come and explore our beautiful gardens any day of the week.
