The summer heat is here, and we know that you and your flowers feel it! Here are a few tips to keep your plants alive in this hot weather.

1. Check the moisture of your plant’s soil. Test the soil by touching an inch or so underground, if the soil is moist, this means that the plant has enough water. Avoid over watering.

2. The best time to water your plants is the early morning and late afternoon. Avoid watering in the middle of the day when the sun is at its hottest.

The King Protea was named South Africa’s national flower in 1976 and can be seen as the proud emblem on many SA sports teams, clubs and groups across the country. 😎

The protea is a type of fynbos and was named after Proteus, a Greek deity of shapeshifting capabilities. The name suits, as these blooms come in all manner of shapes and sizes!

Images are far more expressive than words when you are sharing your vision, this will prompt your florist on the look you're after from the beginning. Share your Pinterest boards, your inspo pictures, fabric swatches and a photograph of your wedding gown. Keep in mind: Your florist will totally appreciate snapshots that reflect your style, but don't expect exact replicas of what lives on your inspiration board. Floral designers are just that - artists with a vision and a desire to create something one of a kind for your wedding.

This may sound strange but all florists are not the same, but there are different wedding pros that deal with florals differently. Your floral designer: who will design the look and feel for the big day and make the arrangements or a regular florist: who will merely provide the arrangements for the day. By deciding which is your best fit will enable you to manage your budget more effectively as these two services come at a different cost.

Set up appointments with a short list of florists, so you can connect in person and view a portfolio of their work. You'll want to book someone six to eight months in advance especially if you're getting married in peak season as florists book up quickly.
