Next up in our DJ reveals, we welcome a true deep house storyteller who has helped shape the sound of Cape Town for more than twenty years.

MATT BLITZ
For over two decades, Matt Blitz has been one of Cape Town’s most quietly influential selectors. He plays with intention, crafting long journeys built on tension, release, rhythm and emotion. His sets unfold like stories, guiding dancers through shifts in mood and energy that define unforgettable nights.

Raised inside Cape Town’s formative underground, Matt cut his teeth in the rooms that shaped a generation including More, The Fez, Beat Boutique, Sutra, Deluxe, Kink Bar and Boutique, O***m and Chukka Churri. Collaboration has always been part of his DNA. From the forward thinking I LOVE DIGITAL era with Sean “The Prawn” Bauer(RIP), to Pump That Dirty Groove with Jody K, to the deep house and techno project Black Book with long time friend and BASSMINT partner Dan C.

Matt has played across major festivals and shared lineups with international heavyweights at Elrow, Kinky Disco, Synergy, Kinky Summer, Rocking The Daisies, We Love Summer, Warehouse Movement, Future Frequency and Sexy Groovy Love. Wherever he plays, he brings an instinctive feel for the floor whether opening with sunrise warmth or closing with peak time pressure.

Expect a set rooted in the foundations of house with timeless classics, deep textures and forward looking cuts. A journey that honours where this music comes from and celebrates the sound that still moves us today.

Picking up from where I left off in High School……. Music has been with me since I was born……. Music is Part of the Heart & Soul of the Hendrickse Family…… When your morning alarm clock is your Dad practicing on his Piano at 5/6am in the morning…… I’ve truly been Blessed to having been introduced to almost all forms and genres of Music.. Today we’re revealing someone very close to the heart of our scene. One of the originals, one of the real ones, and someone whose music has been part of our story from day one.

CRAIG DE SOUSA

Craig has been part of the Cape Town house family since the very beginning. He came up with the rest of us, played the same rooms, built the same friendships, and helped grow a scene that felt like home. His sets carried the warmth, soul and honesty that made Cape Town house what it became, not a trend, not a moment, but a community.

In the mid-90s he took the Cape Town spirit abroad, landing in Paris during the rise of the French Touch movement. While the world was discovering Daft Punk and a new kind of groove, Craig was out there representing our city with two timeless compilations, “From Paris With Love” and “The French Affair.” He would go on to release eight celebrated compilations, each one a reflection of what we were feeling back home.

Craig has shared stages with legends like Deep Dish, Sébastien Léger and Drop Music, but he has always stayed grounded — still the same Craig who loves music, loves people and loves the craft. In the studio he became a mentor and guide, helping younger artists find their sound and their confidence. And today, as a live looping artist, he brings a fresh and personal energy to the music, blending African rhythm, analogue gear and pure heart.

On 16 December, Craig comes back to Long Street. Back to the people, places and memories that shaped us all. This reunion isn’t about ego or nostalgia. It’s about family. It’s about home. And Craig is a huge part of that story.
