OUR STORY

What started as a passion, soon turned into a career and burst into a company. Mitzi Gilbert, better known as DJ Chopper started her DJ career in 2007. Although she was still studying and working at MFM Radio in Stellenbosch, she never saw herself as a DJ.

It was only in 2011 that she decided to DJ full time under the name DJ Chopper. In 2014 she had to register a company and "The Official Chop Shop" was born.

She realised there is a huge gap in the industry for professional, energetic and talented DJ's and so began the OCS DJ Academy in 2015. She started teaching her winning recipe to youngsters with the same passion and hunger for making people happy through music. DJ Cesna was the first to complete his intensive training with DJ Chopper and has since launched a very successful solo career, working under the OCS brand. The newest addition has been DJ Apache, who is currently in the middle of his training with DJ Chopper and DJ Cesna, and has already performed successful solo gigs. DJ Chopper is looking forward to training many more DJs and building the OCS Academy into a fully fledged school with a curriculum.

In 2017 she decided to start another venture within the OCS and created OCS Radio. The idea behind the station was to create a platform where listeners could enjoy a variety of genres and not a lot of talking. She also wants to use the radio to showcase the talents of the DJs working in her company.
