The little flower came with me this Friday when I went to Garden World Nursery to shoot their show gardens. This wasn't the first time, she accompanied me in 2017 as well. Quite a difference wouldn't you say 😅😅😅🥰🥰🥰

There is definitely luck when it comes to photography. I was shooting the gorgeous Brahman Hills gardens in the Natal Midlands on a rather dull, overcast day.
I generally don't mind shooting gardens when there's cloud about as it gives the landscape a soft feel.
But when the sun burst out for a minute or so and only touched the tops of these grasses, I got really lucky.

I have been growing MayFord flower seed and then shooting pictures of the blooms for their library. The 2 seed packets on the right hand side were done in my very own garden. It's been a wonderful project to work on!

Aloe greatheadii var. davyana is the common small Aloe that we see around here on the Witwatersrand. It can be used successfully as a soil binder on banks and to prevent erosion, but I think that it looks it's best when planted amongst grasses.

I am not sure if it was because we had such a wet summer, but my Leucojum aestivum (snowflakes) have been flowering for a few weeks now. Normally they grace us with their delicate white umbels only from about September. Not that I am complaining mind you!!

My violet's are back in flower! Beautifully scented, gorgeous to look at, definitely one of my favourites. So much so my little girl's name is Violet - a fitting picture for Father's Day today. :-) Viola odorata

It's cold out there!! I need the illusion of warmth at least. These Kniphofia praecox are flowering in the garden now and are not only visually appealing at this time of year, they are a great source of nectar during these lean months.

Aloe peglerae aka the "fez aloe" only occurs on the Witwatersrand and Magaliesburg, but due to habitat loss it is now critically threatened.

I visited the Cotswold Downs Golf Estate in late February before the floods hit KZN. It is a stunning course, beautifully maintained by Matkovich Golf Course Maintenance
