Engelbert Humperdinck’s ‘The Last Waltz’ Farewell Tour ends in Cape Town on a high note.

Cape Town – July 14, 2024 – The legendary Mr Engelbert Humperdinck bid his last farewell to a minute-long standing ovation at GrandWest in Cape Town last night for the final leg of his South African tour. He had wowed audiences in Pretoria on Friday night at the SunBet Arena and Cape Town was no exception.

The 2-hour long show had the 5000-strong crowd singing along to all his old classics: ‘Release Me’, ‘Quando’, and ‘The Last Waltz’, and were also treated to a few new renditions of old favourites that will be released on a new concept album in September.

Moving about the stage like a man half his age, the show was peppered with funny jokes and stories from his life and the entertaining moments he encountered with famous people like Elvis Presley and Tom Jones. And there was not a dry eye in the house when he sang, “A man without love,” dedicated to his late wife.

After the show he said: “I was overwhelmed with the fantastic crowds in South Africa and the warm welcome I received everywhere. I will keep the memory of my time here for the rest of my life and I will dance ‘The Last Waltz’ with my fans forever.”
