📌📌📌📌📌📌📌FROM THE GM’S DESK: Welcome back to Golf!

I am pleased to inform you that we will be able to allow golf at the Club from tomorrow !

The Bryanston Country Club would like to remain an escape from the chaos this Covid-19 virus has brought about. For you to enjoy the serenity, beauty and challenge of the golf course there are certain rules we have put in place for the re-opening of the Course. These rules incorporate Government Compliance and Golf RSA Best Practice.

Bookings can be made for four-balls in 12 minute intervals , one tee start off the first tee only. First time tomorrow is 08:00 and then we will open from 07:00 after tomorrow.

You will be able to book from 4.30pm via the members online booking platform or App.

Please remember you are not able to turn up and play without a booking.

We must continue to be aware the playing of golf presents a high risk of transmission if we come into contact with others, use or touch common equipment or surfaces. The most important principle is to Play Safe and Stay Safe. The health, safety and wellbeing of our members and staff is of paramount importance.

The Golf Course

During the lockdown period we have only been permitted to carry out essential maintenance of the golf course with a significantly reduced green keeping team. Adhering to the essential maintenance guidelines has meant less frequent grass cutting and at higher heights of cut than usual. In some areas grass has not been cut and no maintenance of bunkers has been permitted. We have also not been able to attend to the finer details of maintenance around the clubhouse, car park and surrounding areas. Please bear with us whilst we endeavour to get back to our normal routine over the next 2-3 weeks. That being said the course is in great condition with no golfers for over 70 days.

Fair Use Policy

Members who have not paid their Subscriptions will not be permitted to play !

After weeks away from the Club we understand everyone will be keen to return to playing. To ensure we give all Members the fullest opportunity to play we have decided to implement a fair use policy as follows:

• The Course will be open 7 days a week in Phase 1.

• We will initially only allow golfing members to play in Phase 1 of opening. Social members will be allowed in due course, subject to availability.

• Regulations do not allow non-members to play at this stage.

• Members able to play their golf during the week are requested to do so to ensure those members still working have ample opportunity to get their golf in at the weekends.

• Please only pre-book two times per week to allow everybody a chance to get out on the course. For those Members who are only able to play at the weekend it is acceptable to book for both Saturday and Sunday. Any member that books more than twice in Phase 1 of re-opening will have their later times automatically cancelled. Should you wish to play more often, any times that are not booked by 19:00 the day before may be utilised by any member irrespective of how often they have played.

Before your Visit to The Bryanston Country Club

· All bookings to be done online.

· We will have some telephone bookings during the limited hours of 08:00-15:00 on Tuesday to Saturday.

· Tee sheets will be opened up for one week in advance.

· All members to please pre-load accounts before arrival to minimize contact points.

· A fee of R50 per player will be charged in order to cover the cost of fore-caddies. (Juniors and Students charged R20).

· In our phase 1 re-opening we will only have a caddy per hole to assist with spotting and raking bunkers. No other caddies will be permitted. The Club will continue to pay the Caddies during this period.

· A fee of R60 for halfway will be charged at registration and halfway will be striclt grab and go..

· Tee Sheets

· Once we get the go ahead we will give you 24 hours notice before opening bookings for the first week. Tee sheets will then become available online 7 days in advance.

· All days will be a one tee start with 12-minute intervals from 07h00 till 12:40 for 18 holes and 9 holers can follow immediately after that.

· The Last 9 holers can tee off at 16:00

· No Sunrise Golf until further notice.

· No competitions or regular club groups / schools will be arranged in Phase 1.

Safety First

• We would request that all members download the HealthDocs APP which will give you much quicker access to the Club. Please click here for more details or our staff will assist on arrival.

• The APP indicates symptoms of COVID 19 and if you are considered at risk you will get a red block warning.

• The health of our entire community is at risk and if you are considered vulnerable we would urge you to please rather cancel your booking.

• You will be required to have your temperature taken at the Security Gate and if your temperature is 37.5 or higher you will not gain access to the Club.

• Golfers over 60 years of age are not permitted to participate in any competition or event and will also be required to sign an indemnity that they are in a vulnerable age group and that they have higher risks of getting COVID19.

On Arrival at The Bryanston Country Club

· Please ONLY arrive 20 minutes prior to your tee time or 40 minutes if you are going to warm up at the Driving Range. No clubhouse facilities are open besides toilets so you will not be allowed to wander around.

· The Driving Range will initially only be open to golfers booked for a game of golf. From Monday the range will open with limited availability. Golfers using the Range must use the Golfers Carpark and go through the registration process at the Pro Shop.

· Avoid parking next to cars if there are multiple parking bays still available.

· Players should arrive in golf attire and change footwear in the car park.

· All members and guests to self-sterilize at the station provided before entering the Pro Shop. (Golf Bags, Trollies and Personal Hygiene.)

· A registration station will be set up to capture all members that visit the Club during Level 3 as per Government regulations.

· Go to the tee no more than 8 minutes before tee off.

Golf Shop Traffic and Check In

· Not more than four patrons in the Pro Shop at a time in order for us to maintain Social Distancing (6 foot / Two Club lengths).

· Green fees will be taken from the Top-up accounts to minimize contact.

Golf Operations

· There will unfortunately be NO handling of Golf Bags by staff. All Members and Guests are required to handle their own equipment.

Golf Carts

· One Person per Cart – fees have been aligned to cater for this.

· You may share a cart if you live together.

· Limited Golf Carts available so please book if you require a cart.

· All Golfers to clean their own cart after use. i.e. drinks bottles, scorecards etc.

· Carts will be sanitized before and after use.

· Push trolleys and electric trolleys will also be available for daily hire and will be cleaned and sanitised both before and after use.

Driving Range

· The driving range will be set up to allow for greater social distancing.

· One small bucket (30 Balls) per person and no clubs that go further than 220m.

· You will be required to use your own Golf balls on the chipping green.

· Golf coaches will be practicing approved PGA teaching Covid Guidelines. For more details or a copy of this please contact [email protected]

On Course

· All golfers to maintain the recommended distance apart (6 foot / 2 Club Lengths).

· Please keep to a good speed of play. Slower groups should allow faster groups to play through. Consider not putting out to aid speed of play.

· No High Fives. No matter how great the Golfing experience is - rather share it with us on our Social Media Platforms

· Players to always leave the flagstick in the hole. No touching of the flags.

· The hole has a pick-up lever that you should use your club head to raise the ball out the hole.

· Scorecards will not be handled by staff, so when we do run a competition we ask that all competitors report their scores to the office for recording purposes. Golf is a game where you are your own referee and we trust this will be done in ‘the spirit of the game.

· All bunkers are now Waste Bunkers. Rakes have been removed from the course, and players are requested to smooth bunkers using their feet or a club.

· There are fore-caddies walking the course to help rake bunkers.

· Ball washers are no longer in use. They will be covered.

· Water fountains will have the taps removed.

· There will be a roaming cart on the course. The operator will sanitize the cart, drinks and himself on a regular basis.

· All 18 holes will be charged for Halfway house with your green fee- a prepacked meal and drink which can be collected at halfway house after 9 holes. This will be strictly Grab and Go.

· No locker-room facilities other than toilets will be permitted in Phase 1. Sanitizers and cleaning measures have been increased around these facilities, but it is tough for the Club to monitor usage.

After your Round

· Scores to be captured via the HNA App.

· When the round is completed golfers must unfortunately leave the course and the club/facility immediately so that there are no gatherings around the clubhouse area.

· You could use the opportunity to grab a Terrace Take-away meal for home on our APP - we will co-ordinate that it will be ready for you at the Bag Drop when you finish your round. Take away liquor can also be order Monday – Thursday.

Good Golfing Practice

· We encourage all Golfers to carry Hand Sanitizers in their Golf Bags.

· Empty Bottles, Ci******es and all other General Waste to please be thrown away by golfers, it is not safe for Employees to have to pick up refuge. In the spirit of keeping healthy and clean we appeal to all smokers to please place cigarette butts in the dustbins.

Golf is played in a wonderful Spirit of mutual respect, patience and courtesy. In moments like these we can look to the Game for guidance and an escape. The Bryanston Country Club has your well being at heart, lets come together as a Community to create a safe environment for all.
