The Turbosound “Flashlight” system.
25 years ago I owned a system just like this one.
It was definitely an unforgiving system for those that didn’t understand how to use it properly.
If you went to concerts in the 90’s, you most likely heard bands like Pink Floyd, Oasis or Nine Inch Nails shake the building with this rig.
It was a completely different experience because instead of how we do it now with columns creating a “Coherent Wavefront “, this as a “Point Source” system where every single box is dedicated to covering a specific seating section.
Modern sound system high frequency distribution is set for 90 to 120 degrees in the horizontal plane, these boxes were 25 degrees horizontal and vertical.
The box was so tight you could duck your head out of the high frequency zone.
Subsequently, if you fkd up the hang and had two boxes pointing to the same location, it would sound horrible.
We hung these systems without laptops and lasers.
We used something that is woefully lacking today.
Experience and judgment. 😉
