ABUDISCO (translating loosely from Arabic as Father of Disco) has a passion for rare grooves, disco, boogie, funk, afrodisco and bubblegum. Based in Soweto, ABUDISCO is a DJ, dancer and record collector of note. With a love for marathon sessions, at Disco De Moda we'll be treated to the DJ's skill to deliver a party set of rare grooves, disco and discofunk.

We discovered ABUDISCO through the incredible archive of disco-leaning vinyl on his page - go have a scroll to get a sense of some of the rare bangers we can expect in this set!

Laliboi first burst onto the scene as trumpeter, forming the band Impande Core which consisted of an array of creatives, cultural activists and a knack for social justice sought after through the making of music. Soon after the disintegration of Impande Core, Radio 123 was formed by LaliBoi and Smash, (also a former band member of Impande Core) where the ‘Mandela Pop’ genre was founded.

In Laliboi’s latest offering, the Spoek Mathambo-produced Siyalapha fuses 808 beats, traditional South African folk music, modern folk, electronica, jazz, and hip-hop.

our indie alternative POP up for this edition!
