Laliboi first burst onto the scene as trumpeter, forming the band Impande Core which consisted of an array of creatives, cultural activists and a knack for social justice sought after through the making of music. Soon after the disintegration of Impande Core, Radio 123 was formed by LaliBoi and Smash, (also a former band member of Impande Core) where the โMandela Popโ genre was founded.
In Laliboiโs latest offering, the Spoek Mathambo-produced Siyalapha fuses 808 beats, traditional South African folk music, modern folk, electronica, jazz, and hip-hop.
