Have a chance to meet Dr. Einar Ottestad, Director of Acute Pain Service, Stanford Healthcare, USA.

Dr. Ottestad joined Stanford faculty in 2007 and became Medical Director of the Acute Pain Service and the Stanford Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Pain Program in 2009. As such, he manages acute, post-operative pain, acute-on-chronic inpatient pain consults, and cancer pain at Stanford Hospital. He is committed to the Stanford Pain Center’s multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach when treating clinic patients with chronic pain. Dr. Ottestad possesses expertise in neuromodulation and ultrasound-guided procedures in treatment of pain. Dr. Ottestad is the past president of World Academy of Pain Medicine United and its current International Director. He is a member of the Board of Directors for WAPMU and the Pacific Spine and Pain Society and has been an annual course director for peripheral nerve stimulation for the North American Neuromodulation Society since 2018. He is a faculty examiner for FIPP and CIPS exams. Dr. Ottestad is a peer reviewer of multiple journals and is ultrasound section editor for the journal Pain Medicine. Dr. Ottestad has given more than 120 national lectures and 30 international lectures.

Meet our standout speaker from Stanford University, USA

Dr. Albert Kwon joined the Stanford Pain Medicine faculty in 2021. He is board-certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, and board-eligible in General Pediatrics. His clinical focus is in chronic pain care transition from adolescence to adulthood and chronic pain syndromes of young adults (below age 30). Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and leveraging digital health solutions, he is building the Stanford Adolescent and Young Adult Pain Program to bridge the Pediatric Pain Management Program at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and the Stanford Pain Management Center at Stanford Hospital and Clinics.

Meet our faculty from Stanford University School of Medicine, USA!

Dr. Vafi Salmasi is an interventional pain specialist and anesthesiologist at Stanford University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2004. He completed his anesthesiology training at the Cleveland Clinic, where he also completed a research fellowship in the Department of Outcomes Research.

After his fellowship in Pain Medicine, Dr. Salmasi joined the Stanford University Division of Pain Medicine as a faculty member. He furthered his expertise by earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Research and Epidemiology.

Dr. Salmasi’s research focuses on advancing clinical knowledge about real-world application of therapies in perioperative and pain medicine. He integrates pragmatic comparative effectiveness research into routine clinical care. At the Stanford Pain Management Center, he is an active member of the neuromodulation and advanced intervention team.
