I was pursuing my college degree in Dubai, while Farooz was working here. We connected unexpectedly through Instagram—he was from my hometown, and his simple “Hi” led to endless conversations. We became the best of friends, sharing laughter, dreams, and struggles. Over time, our bond deepened, and I realized that life would be better if we walked it together. So, I took the step—I was the one who proposed to him. I told him, through Instagram, that we should join hands and make this friendship into something even more beautiful.
Our journey to marriage, however, was far from easy. Farooz was an extreme introvert, sensitive and reserved. But with me, he changed—he laughed more, played more, and often said that I made him feel younger. The real challenge came from our families. We both came from deeply orthodox Muslim backgrounds, where convincing our parents felt like an impossible battle. There were moments of heartbreak, especially when our families had already printed wedding invitations, only for the marriage to be canceled due to complications from his past.
Yet, against all odds, we stood strong—just the two of us. With no help, no support, we built our life together. Today, we share a small flat, surviving on our love and faith. What was once just a dream has become our reality. We cook together, smile together, and cherish every moment. Every morning, I wait for him to return from work, and each day, our love only grows.
Even now, my father has not accepted our marriage, though my mother stood by me and came to court for our wedding. I still hold onto hope that one day, my father will see our happiness and embrace us. After all, no parent truly wishes harm upon their child—if we are happy and at peace, won’t that be enough?
Life has been full of twists and turns, but I believe that Allah always gives us the best. The struggles may be hard, but in the end, they are always worth it.
