Due to the absence of Walt Disney, 3D mapping technology was not developed and was forgotten for a long 10 years. Until, in 1980, installation artist Michael Naimark tried to bring a room to life with a projection image.

Michael filmed people walking around the room and interacting with different objects in it, and then projected the resulting video onto the same room when no one was in it. The result was the illusion of the presence of people in an empty room.
