Peace begin with a smile…

Starting from the title, in this ambitious project, the photographer Korab Basha reuses and reinterprets the slogan of the United Kingdom army which during the Second World War motivated the British to stay calm and carry on, to keep going, to keep optimism alive, despite the imminent threat of N**i invasion. Even though it was never published at the time but reappeared more than 50 years later, this slogan, with a triumphant return to contemporary pop culture, continues to be a strong symbol of resistance and patience in the face of the challenges of life, not only in its propaganda aspect. In the constant storm of military and political tensions, today the Kosovo army embodies the gift of standing at the forefront of the country and does so by relying strongly on its humanity…

This longtime project witch is curated by Elton Koritari and EJAlbum covers the production and communication of all the exhibitions. This show, an outdoor installation is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation of the Republic of Albania within the framework of the International Cultural Week of Kosovo in Albania.

The Opening Ceremony will take place in BunkArt2 Square on November 28, 2024 at 12.00 in the presence of the artist Osman Demiri and personalities of art and culture from Kosovo and Albania, as well as the diplomatic corps of the Republic of Kosovo in Albania.

We have the pleasure to invite you to the Gjon Mili International VideoArt Festival 2024, 2nd Edition.

The GJON MILI IVAF is a festival that celebrates the creativity of Video Art and places special emphasis on innovative and ground-breaking artworks. It seeks for innovative, provocative, and exciting video art works from around the world.

The festival comes this year as its tradition with a wide program of events, training, unforgettable nights and days and above all a careful selection of 92 artists in different genres of VideoArt, Narrative Film, Documentary and Animation.

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on November 15, 2024 at GAD Gallery Korca, featuring a curated selection of films and of course, a special night of jazz & blues music. The training days will be held in GAD Gallery & GJON MILI Museum during the days 15-17 November 2024. The festival program sees a large distribution of screenings in different locations of the city of Korca, focused on the GAD

“Behind a wall there are other walls” is a powerful call that does even more - it continues the extraordinary work of the Open Art Gallery which creates a direct and human connection with the suburban neighbourhood where it’s located. This exhibition aims to further melt the boundaries between public and private space, engaging the local community in an open and honest dialogue about the influence of art, politics, power, society on acute topics for the suburbs of cities - topics such as cultural homologation, gentrification, nationalism, migration, etc. This public aspect of the exhibition aims to create a space where beyond the “art public” of the capital of Kosovo, even residents or ordinary people can actively reflect on the barriers that surround them - those outside and those inside them in a community engagement.
