Brief history

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) was established pursuant to the resolution of the 6th Arab Summit Conference at Algiers (28th November 1973). The Bank began operations in March 1975.

BADEA is a financial institution owned by eighteen Arab countries members of the League of Arab States (LAS) which signed its Establishing Agreement in 18th February 1974. The Bank is an independent International Institution enjoying full international legal status and complete autonomy in administrative and financial matters. It is governed by the provisions of its Establishing Agreement and the principles of international law.

Headquarters:

The Bank’s Headquarters is located in Khartoum, the capital of the Republic of the Sudan.

Objectives:

The Bank was created for the purpose of strengthening economic, financial and technical cooperation between the Arab and African regions and for the embodiment of Arab-African solidarity on foundations of equality and friendship. To achieve this end, the

Bank was given a mandate to:

- Participate in financing economic development in African countries.

- Stimulate the contribution of Arab capital to African development.

- Help provide the technical assistance required for the development of Africa.

Get to Know Aipex Angola

AIPEX - (Agência de Investimento Privado e Promoção das Exportações de Angola), in english (Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Angola); is a legal person governed by public law, endowed with legal personality, administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy, dedicated to promoting exports, attracting private investment, registering investment proposals, institutional support and monitoring the ex*****on of investment projects and the internationalization of Angolan companies.

It was created under Presidential Decree nº 81/18, of March 19, 2018, resulting from the merger of the (Unidade Técnica para o Investimento Privado), in english (Technical Unit for Private Investment) – U.T.I.P and the ( Agência para Promoção de Investimento e Exportações de Angola), in english (Angolan Investment and Export Promotion Agency) – APIEX.

AIPEX is subject to the supervision of the Head of Executive Power, exercised through the Head of the Ministerial Department responsible for the economy and Planning.

Its main duties are:

Promoting and attracting private investments of internal and external origin that are likely to contribute to the socio-economic development of Angola;

Ensuring the reception and monitoring of private investment proposals to be carried out in Angola;

Promote the attraction of foreign direct investment for strategic sectors of the national economy;

Promote the increase and diversification of exports of products and services from Angola;

Contribute to the creation of favorable conditions for carrying out private investment in Angola;

Supervise and control the ex*****on of approved private investment projects;

Implement policies and programs to replace imports and increase exports.

AIPEX is the investor's sole interlocutor at all stages of the investment process, through institutional articulation it supports investors, monitors investment proposals and ensures the conditions for the proper ex*****on of investment projects.

Meet Mr. Dogad DOGOUI

Corporate communications and public affairs specialist, Dogad Dogoui manages a platform of nearly 30 000 companies in 52
countries across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas He advises governments, public institutions and companies on investment (debt and private equity), privatization and business development projects in Africa.

A key player in promoting economic diversity in France, Dogad Dogoui founded in 1999 the Africagora Club, the first network of entrepreneurs from African diasporas in this country with delegations in Belgium 2005 and Switzerland 2007 with a network of 3000 former members from 33 African nations Invited in 2010 for three weeks to the United States by the US State Department in the framework of the International Visiter Leadership Program ( Dogad Dogoui is also President of the African organisations of ATIK, the World Business and Cooperation Council of Turkey.

Since 2012 he is the creator and Chairman of Africa SMB Forum, a platform for connecting African SMEs to global suppliers
and contractors.

Appointed WUSME (World Union Of Small And Medium Enterprises Ambassador in 2018 he became in 2020 Special Representative of the Board of the World Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (based in San Marino) Dogad Dogoui was made a Knight of the National Order of Merit by the French Republic in 2008

Meet Dr. Sidi Ould TAH

Dr. Sidi Ould TAH is a Mauritanian national, born in " Mederdra " in 1964. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Nice Sophia Antipolis University and a D.E.A (Master degree) in Economics, from Paris VII University. He has a post graduate degree in Economics and a B.A degree in Economics from “ Nouakchott”University.

Dr. Ould TAH has excellent command of Arabic, French and English languages. He participated in a number of training sessions conducted by top ranking academic institutions such as Harvard Institute for International Development (USA), London Business School (UK) and Swiss Finance Institute (Switzerland), in the field of Investment, Leadership, Asset Management and Financial Engineering.

He started his career as expert at the Mauritanian Bank for Development and Commerce (BMDC) (1984 1986), then as financial analy st at the Food Security Commission (1986). He held the position of Administration and Finance Manager of the Municipality of “Nouakchot t” (1987). During the period 1988 1996, he was assigned the job of Advisor to the Director General and Director of Internal Auditing Depart ment in “Nouakchott” Port Authority. He worked as Financial Analyst at the Khartoum based Arab Authority for Agriculture, Investment and Development (AAAID) (1996 1999).

During the period 1999 2006, Dr. Ould Tah served as Investment Promotion Officer then as Technical Assistan t to the President of the Islamic Development Bank.
Dr. Sidi OULD TAH, held a number of other senior posts in his country; He held the position of advisor to both the President and the Prime Minister respectively (2006 2008). In July 2008, he has been nominated as Minister of Economy and Finance. Since August 2008, Dr . Ould TAH, held the position of Minister of Economic Affairs and Development till his appointment as Director General of BADEA.

In his Ministerial capacity, he headed the National Statistics Council. He represented his country in the IBRD Board of Governors as well as in other ten Regional and International Development Finance Institutions (IFC, MIGA IFAD, IsDB , DHMAN, ICIEC, ICD, ITFC, AfDB, AFESD, AAAID, ACBF).

He also chaired the 37th BADEA’s Board of Governors Meeting (Marrakech, April 2012), and the 93rd session of the Econo mic and Social Council of the League of Arab States (2014) as well as the chaired the Council of Ministers of the G5 Sahel during 2014 2015.
