Events can also be conducted both indoors and outdoors. Afternoon tea became popular in England and its colonies particularly during the 19th century. To this day, nothing is considered more quintessentially English than the drinking of tea. This takes many forms and fulfils many functions. Tea is used as a vehicle of sympathy and comfort to friends in need; Is the essential brew of the English work man with the cheapest (and often tastiest) tea known colloquially as “builders tea; On holidays, there is nothing more indulgent as a Cream Tea with fresh-from-the-oven scones, clotted cream and jam; To round it all, the elite gathered in drawing rooms for “high tea” to stave off that empty, afternoon feeling in the stomach. My Family Home in England is not only my home but home to wonderful treasures hunted down, collected and loved by my mother, Denise. After she had come back from a day in the local town, spent often sifting through second-hand shops and flea-markets, I would be eager to see what gems she pulled from her bag. In 2012, when I announced that I would love my wedding to be centred around an authentic tea-party, Denise and I cheekily smiled at one another because we knew it would give us full reign, without a conscience, to fill the house with delightful, hand-picked, vintage tea-cups, saucers, teapots, milk jugs and sugar bowls, embroidered and lace table cloths.These items became the base of the collection offered today to Milk & Sugar customers to recreate their own authentic occasion. Nowadays, the feeling of these occasions can be regenerated with beautifully crafted, authentically original, vintage, porcelain tea sets, lace and hand-embroidered table cloths, and an assorted display of food. For outdoor events, bunting strewn from surrounding trees magnifies the beauty of the event and celebration.
