D&Y Dance Studio

D&Y Dance Studio We have mainly three directions in our art club: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Art and Culture Appreciation.

In a visual arts , you can decide, which art forms to focus on specifically. You might have a shared interest in painting or still art, pottery and sculpture, we try to offer different art forms for our guests. During our meetings, we invite experienced artist to give a master class and share his experience with our lovely guests. In a performing arts , we will introduce you to different music st

yles, dance styles and can also organise for you privat parties and birthday parties. Finally, in an art and culture appreciation, we would like to present different cultural diversity projects in Vienna. We host events for different communities (russian, serbian, african e.t.c.) in order to pass on the experience and traditions of indigenous peoples to younger generation and for the exchange of cultural experience.

Origins & History of Salsa
The origins of salsa date back to the 1900s in Eastern Cuba, where musical elements and rhythms from various styles were combined. Cuban son and Afro-Cuban rumba, the two main styles, used diverse musical instruments to create the basis of a rhythm that would later become known as salsa.

Although all bachata styles have the same basic with four strokes, starting with the left leg of the boys and with the right leg of the girls, there are many differences between all the different styles of bachata but in our school we dance one of the most popular styles - TRADITIONAL BACHATA. It is a type of bachata originally from the United States and Europe in which the romantic connection is mixed with hip blows in times 4 and 8. We teach how to pass passion into moves, feel the partner and make each other hearts beat faster. At the end of the day LOVE is all what matters! Bachata is the dance of passion and love 💕!

We all know Bachata, but how many of us really know the origin of Bachata music and dancing?

This latin musical genre has its origins in the Dominican Republic. So far we have not said anything that surprises you, but did you know that the origins of bachata were marked by contempt, repudiation and repression? Bachata emerged during the 1960 in the poorest neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic: bars and brothels. This caused that at the beginning it was rejected by the highest social classes of that time, to the point that it was considered vulgar and without style.

Before the appearance of this musical genre, the name “bachata” symbolized the gathering of friends or family members who organized in the Dominican Republic when they congregated in the courtyard of their houses to make a barbecue or to talk. Each of them took an instrument and began to play. That is to say, it was synonymous with party, music, friends, family, dance and revelry.

Subsequently, the musical genre would adopt the name of bachata since it was in these meetings of friends and families where it all began.
