⚡ The 2025 Viennese state election is scheduled to be held on 27 April 2025.
As a result of a collaboration between 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 and 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮, we organised the 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀, sessions where we invited the candidates to open, appreciative, and engaging conversations with our community.

Here's a glimpse of what it looked like the one we had with 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣ü𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 candidate for the 𝗗𝗶𝗲 𝗚𝗿ü𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝗲𝗻. A big shout-out to everyone who made this possible.

23/04/2025

As part of the second session of our 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀, co-hosted with 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, we had the pleasure of welcoming 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗼𝘃𝗶ć. She took the time to answer our questions and share more about herself and the vision of 𝗡𝗘𝗢𝗦 — offering attendees an open and personal exchange ahead of the Viennese state election on 27 April 2025.

Thank you Selma and everyone that attended and made this event possible!

We want to address these complex issues by supporting initiatives and ventures focusing on the user and the use of social media. That’s why we’re launching FABB Social Media - The Skills Program.

We are looking for initiatives and ventures that focus on the 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬. We seek ventures and initiatives working on:

- Informing on the importance of data collection and 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐲,
- Teaching 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲.

🌱 The Grow 2024–2025 cohort is in full swing.

Six ventures. One shared goal: building solutions that create jobs for a climate-neutral future.

At the recent Grow bootcamp, Nadina Ruedl, founder of Die Pflanzerei, shared valuable insights from her entrepreneurial journey — sparking honest conversations and peer learning across the cohort.

Afterwards, each venture sat down with their Deloitte expert teams for dedicated check-ins, tackling their current challenges and refining their next steps.

This is what Grow is all about: tailored support, expert input, and hands-on guidance — all leading up to the final pitch in front of a jury.

🗓️ Save the date: July 12, 2025
That’s when we’ll gather for the final jury hearing and award ceremony.

💡 In the lead-up to the Viennese state election on April 27, we’ve partnered with Love Politics to host a special series:

🎙️ Love Vienna Talks – four evenings, four candidates, one goal: to create open spaces for real dialogue between citizens and the political voices shaping Vienna’s future.

Yesterday, we welcomed Barbara Novak, Landesparteisekretärin of SPÖ, to the stage.

What are key takeaways?

- Novak spoke about the role of mentorship in her life—sharing how her entire career has been shaped by strong women who inspired and supported her.

- She also opened up about living with endometriosis, and the importance of prioritizing women’s health in public policy.

- On housing, Novak emphasized Vienna’s strong foundation but acknowledged the need for reassurance and further action. One approach to affordable housing is for example, the City of Vienna’s Gemeindebau.

- She also underlined her commitment to equal educational opportunities and inclusive access for all citizens.

Yesterday, we welcomed Karl Mahrer from ÖVP to the stage.

👮‍♂️ Mahrer, who served as Vice President of the Vienna State Police Directorate and as Vienna’s Chief of Police from 2013 to 2018, brought a security-focused perspective to the conversation — but also shared a broader vision of what Vienna needs to thrive.

Highlights from the evening:

📚 Education is key and a foundation for solving many social challenges

🧾 Less bureaucracy is needed especially for entrepreneurs navigating the system

🚋 Karl Mahrer Supports the Green Party’s proposal for 17 new tram lines, with a focus on cross-district connections in outer areas

🌳 Advocates for fewer cars and more green but insists it’s about offering real, attractive alternatives

And he left us with a reminder: politicians must lead by example, not only in words, but through their actions.

👉 Today, we close the series with our final Love Vienna Talk featuring Barbara Novak from SPÖ.

Join us for an open and honest conversation at 17:30.

Love Vienna Talks – four evenings, four candidates, one goal: to create open spaces for real dialogue between citizens and the political voices shaping Vienna’s future.

On Friday, we sat down with Selma Arapovic from NEOS— architect who moved to Austria at 16, and whose political journey began when she wrote an email to NEOS asking to get involved in the 2nd district.

Held in our signature fishbowl format, the evening sparked thoughtful questions, diverse perspectives, and a shared sense of possibility.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠:

🗳️ She’s committed to breaking down barriers in voting rights and citizenship.
🗣️ Believes all children should learn German in school to ensure equal opportunity.
🌿 Pushes for innovation over stagnation, especially in urban development—more greenery, active attention to the needs of existing spaces, and rethinking how we shape the city.
🏛️ Champions more civic participation and believes that politics should reflect the reality of Vienna—including women with migration stories like her own.

Tonight was a reminder: representation matters—and so does the courage to show up and shape what’s next.

📍Today at 18:00 we are talking with Karl Mahrer from ÖVP. Join us and register through the link in comments.

Love Vienna Talks – four evenings, four candidates, one goal: to create open spaces for real dialogue between citizens and the political voices shaping Vienna’s future.

We kicked things off with Judith Pühringer from Die Grünen Wien, in an open, honest conversation about her motivations, her role models—and even her favourite U-Bahn line.

Held in a fishbowl format, the discussion gave everyone in the room the chance to ask questions, share perspectives, and co-shape the conversation.

𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠:

🚇 Her favourite Ubahn line? U6

💡 She values caring leadership, citing former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as a powerful example.

🚲 She’s inspired by Copenhagen’s bike infrastructure, especially its inclusion of slower riders and focus on dignity in mobility.

♀️ And her role model? Johanna Dohnal—Austrian feminist and a trailblazer for gender equality.

Today, we continue the series with Selma Arapovic NEOS. 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬!

But entrepreneurship, and the economic systems around it, can become more human. As part of Wellbeing Week, together with guest speakers 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐙𝐞𝐧𝐳 and 𝐍𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬 𝐇𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫, we explored the emotional realities behind entrepreneurship and work culture; especially for men in high-pressure, high-performance environments.

As 𝐍𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬 𝐇𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 put it: “𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘷𝘶𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨; 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘥, 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦.”

Last week, OekoBusiness Wien officially recognised 140 Vienna-based businesses for their achievements in implementing sustainable measures. We’re proud to share that several of our Re:Wien ventures were among those celebrated at the ceremony at the Wien Museum. 🎉

Seeing our participants take the stage and receive recognition alongside leading Viennese businesses is a clear sign: solutions for a greener, more circular, and livable city are already in motion.

The event, hosted by OekoBusiness Wien and Vienna's Climate Councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky, brought together representatives from the City of Vienna, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, trade unions, the Ministry of Climate Action, and other key partners.

Congratulations to all awarded companies, and a special shout-out to the Re:Wien ventures that continue to make impact visible.

🧠 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬?

When we’re under pressure, our bodies go into survival mode — energy spikes, digestion slows, and we become reactive instead of reflective. Over time, this can make it harder to stay motivated and focused.

As part of Wellbeing Week at Impact Hub Vienna, Alina Topf, founder of New Work Targets, shared tools and tactics to help keep stress in check:

🧭 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫. Stress becomes toxic when demands are high but control is low. Having the right level of autonomy and support is key to resilience and performance.

✅ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐱. A simple structure to help prioritize tasks and regain focus. It helps you decide whether to do, schedule, delegate, or eliminate.

⚡A wine-down evening of powerful conversations on leadership through the lens of Women of Impact. At our recent Women of Impact Event, we heard from inspiring leaders Johanna Mayr-Keber, Elena Yaneva, Mélanie Vital, and Miriam Imarhiagbe as they shared their experiences of living leadership every day.

Key takeaways from the conversation:

- Leadership has no gender—and neither do the skills that shape it.
- Empower your people
- Stay true to yourself—ignore the expectations and attitudes that try to box you in. Speak your mind and lead with authenticity.
- Be persistent, be kind—strength and empathy go hand in hand.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this winedown evening! Let’s continue shaping leadership that drives impact.

⚡ The 9th edition of Re:Wien wrapped up this week with an inspiring final presentation, where our 10 participants pitched their ideas for a more sustainable Vienna and shared what they need to take them further.

The evening kicked off with opening remarks from Jürgen Czernohorszky, Stadtrat für Klima, Umwelt, Demokratie und Personal; Alexis Eremia, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Impact Hub Vienna; Michael Kienesberger, Leiter der Stadt Wien für Umweltschutz; and Bertram Häupler, Program Manager of ÖkoBusiness Wien.

💡 From smart cooling modules made of wood to transforming food waste into textiles, from online platforms that minimize waste to insulation and acoustic panels crafted from mycelium—the evening was a journey filled with surprising innovations.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭?

The Re:Wien alumni now gain access to the extensive networks of Impact Hub Vienna and RespAct, connecting them with experts and opportunities to bring their impact further.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us—we sold out with 80 attendees! Were you part of it?

That’s why we’re introducing Wellbeing Week (March 24–28): a series of events designed to help us integrate wellbeing into our daily lives, not just talk about it.

While a single week won’t solve the challenge, it’s a step toward keeping the conversation alive—including the difficult ones. Through collective breaks, energizers, and interactive workshops, we’ll explore wellbeing from multiple angles, including:

✨ Financial Wellbeing – because financial stability is a key pillar of overall wellbeing.
✨ Leadership & Motivation – to help us lead with energy and purpose.
✨ Energizers – because movement and shared moments keep us grounded and inspired.

Join us! Let’s create a culture where wellbeing is part of how we work, not an afterthought. Find out more and register for our events here:
