🧡 In Austria, one in three women experiences violence, often at the hands of a partner, highlighting a pressing issue that demands collective action. Together with UN Women, we hosted the Orange the World 2024 evening to shed light on this crisis and call for action from everyone.

The evening brought together inspiring speakers and performers who shared their insights and voices:

Ursula Strauss | Actress, Singer, and Orange the World Ambassador
Therese Frank & Marcus Wadsak | Lawyer & ORF Weather Moderator
Eva-Maria Burger | Head of the Women and Family Department, AK Wien
Elke Rock | Ö3 Moderator, who led the program
Ali Mahlodji - Keynote Speaker and Impact Entrepreneur | Entrepreneur and Author

Musical performances by the femchor and the reading by Ursula Strauss created powerful moments of reflection and unity. Feminist artist Kinga Jakabffy showcased her work "LETZTES ABENDMAHL," created for the campaign.

Limited-edition prints are available for purchase, with proceeds supporting UN Women projects that empower women globally.

This evening was a powerful call to action to end violence against women. 🧡

The next round of Grow, our program in collaboration with Deloitte Future Fund, has officially kicked off! This edition welcomes six innovative ventures, selected by a jury of experts from Deloitte and Impact Hub Vienna, to embark on an intensive five-month acceleration phase.

Over the next months, these ventures will work closely with Deloitte experts for at least five hours a week, addressing their unique challenges and refining their ideas to make a bigger impact. Thank you Amelie Lütkemeyer and Darya Makshyna for putting this program together.

At the end of the program, a multidisciplinary jury will select two promising ventures to receive financial prizes and additional 50 hours of Deloitte expert support for each winner.

Stay tuned for updates as they grow and innovate! 🌟

To achieve this, innovative and data-driven approaches are needed for proactively managing and mitigating climate risks. These innovative approaches are exactly what the venture capital firm Greencode Ventures prioritizes. A recent example of it, is their investment in repath, a platform specializing in asset-level climate risk analysis for energy infrastructure.

⚡ As a venture capital firm dedicated to fostering environmentally and socially impactful startups, Greencode Ventures recognized the tremendous potential in repath’s ability to deliver sustainable solutions while building a scalable, profitable business.

Founded by Julius Pröll, Liza Altena, Dr. Thomas Remke, and Sebastian Bartels, repath combines scientific, technical, and commercial expertise to address critical challenges.

⚡Manuel Heckmann, Partner at Greencode Ventures, highlighted the role of Impact Hub Vienna in this collaboration:

The EU aims to achieve a circular economy by 2050, focusing on reducing textile waste and extending the life cycle and recyclability of textiles.

Here are some keypoints on why to focus on this. In 2020, the textile sector was the third-largest contributor to water degradation and land use. On average, it required nine cubic meters of water, 400 square meters of land, and 391 kilograms of raw materials per EU citizen to produce clothes and shoes.

Anna Greil, co-founder of uptraded , is tackling the fast fashion issue with an innovative clothes-swapping platform.

🌱 Re:Wien: Empowering Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Vienna's Future 🌱

Re:Wien's goal is to turn early-stage ideas with the potential to address the city's sustainability challenges into reality. To achieve this, our experts play a key role, providing participants with feedback and guidance right from the start—beginning at the bootcamps.

🧠 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩?

⚡ In a world where anyone can claim they’re making a difference, the VSE label shows that your enterprise is actually delivering.

With over 2,000 active social enterprises in Austria, the social enterprise sector is vibrant, diverse, and rapidly growing. Yet, only a fraction of these organizations currently hold the VSE label, a certification that sets them apart and provides well-deserved recognition.

⚡The VSE label, launched in 2022, is the only certification specifically for social enterprises in Austria. Issued by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy and managed by Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws), it was developed in partnership with the Social Entrepreneurship Network Austria (SENA) and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. This certification strengthens the entire field by creating a unified front that amplifies impact and visibility.

By holding the VSE label, enterprises gain credibility and access to a support network that can help them scale their impact. It's a mark of trust and commitment, paving the way for Austria’s social enterprises to make an even more significant difference.

⚡ Read more about it in the text written by our Managing Director, Jakob Detering

⚡ ESG meets Innovation, a workshop for sustainability professionals

Last week, we launched the ESG Workshop for sustainability professionals, hosted with tailored content for participants from Erste Group and George Labs.

🧠 What did we explore?
Led by Maayan Sharon, Irena Ben Yakar, Yoav Trenter Moser and Gal Harel, the workshop dove into innovation methodologies and technologies to amplify ESG efforts. Participants identified and evaluated impactful and feasible initiatives that align with their organizations’ sustainability goals.

⚡ Four industry-related topics were at the heart of the workshop, reflecting client priorities, including automotive and power generation. A standout moment was featuring groundbreaking solutions from startups such as Bridgewise, ECO-OS, and Viridian Analytics, each tackling critical challenges for the bank and presenting opportunities for enhanced efficiency.

A huge shoutout to the engaged participants:
Michael Schoder, Teresa Weis, Daniela Schwarzauger, and Fredrik H.

⚡ Special thanks to the expert facilitators from Deloitte and EIT Hub Israel:
Irena Ben Yakar, Gal Harel, and Yoav Trenter Moser. Together, we’re proving that ESG innovation is not just possible—it’s powerful.

💡 Impact washing and greenwashing are more common than you might think. In fact, a report by the European Commission found that 42% of green claims made by companies were exaggerated, false, or deceptive. Learning to spot impact washing and greenwashing empowers us to make informed choices.

🧐 How can you identify it? Stay informed and look for certifications provided by independent or governmental organizations. This post highlights four credible options, though there are many more: B Corp, Verified Social Enterprise, Fair Trade, and EU Ecolabel.

For business owners committed to transparency, certifications are a powerful way to validate and lend credibility to your impact, helping to avoid misconceptions.
