This Saturday night as part of Team Rolfes 321 Rule, New York-based artist and live cinema director Kevin Peter He presents Passage, a new version of his audiovisual show brought to life through a collaboration with Adelaide's Messianic Gloss.

Passage is a speculative audiovisual performance that unfolds within a simulated ecology, created by artist Kevin Peter He. The show takes form as a POV journey through the one-day lifespan of a speculative organism. As it ascends a cybernetic forest nestled in the mountains, it witnesses a sunrise that unveils the true workings of the world.

What does nature look and sound like if it were born of a computer? Passage delves into the entanglement of natural and artificial systems, imagining a self-sustaining ecosystem where organic life fuses with computational circuitry to create an otherworldly symbiosis.

Variables such as the gaze of the embodied camera, shifting micro-biomes, and the passage of time foster emergent behaviors, dynamically reshaping the audio-visual composition in real-time. This feedback loop with a live improvised musical response from MXG, and the techno-biosphere itself creates a living, breathing experience that blurs the boundaries between nature and machine.

We’re very excited to announce our biggest and final show for 2024! Coming all the way from New York City, acclaimed creators Team Rolfes are taking over The Lab with starring guest Ninajirachi to present 321 Rule – the first fully original, real-time club-theatre performance combining VR puppetry and motion-capture avatars.

This groundbreaking show is the result of years of pioneering 3D live performance, featuring collaborations with artists like Danny L Harle, Rabit, House of Kenzo, Lady Gaga, Arca, and Marshstepper.

No two shows are the same. 321Rule constantly evolves, with new musical collaborators keeping each performance fresh and unpredictable.
For its Adelaide debut, Team Rolfes teams up with Naarm-based musician and producer Ninajirachi. Together, they explore a chaotic future where human memories are mined like video game levels, unlocking hidden pasts to create new futures—at a steep price.

Joined by NYC based Kevin Peter He in a special collaboration with Messianic Gloss, + the return of longtime collaborators of The Lab CAPITAL WASTE x Quartz Pistol x Michael Ellingford, Saturday 30 November promises to close out 2024 through the ultimate showcase exploring the intersection of cutting edge technology, performance and sound.
