Kick off your long weekend next Friday night at Sugar as I host Yax Presents: Decoder (USA)!

Decoder is a Dallas based Producer/DJ, and label owner specializing in hyper-minimalistic, sci-fi-esque body music.

His music has seen releases on legendary record labels such as Axis and Molecular, as well as on more contemporary imprints like Float, AMTK+, and his own Toca Records. His releases have garnered the support of many heavyweights including the likes of Jeff Mills, Rrose, Amotik, and Richie Hawtin, who invited him on tour extensively across North America, Europe, and India. Decoder's touring schedule has also seen many notable moments, having played at established clubs such as Knockdown Center, De School, Fold, Cialo, and Watergate, to name a few.

Here's a clip from my set from the first night of Forbidden Forest, 30 December 2024.

It felt very refreshing to play an open-air gig again, especially playing some tracks that delve into both techno and psytrance, which I don't normally get the opportunity to do.

Episode 200 of Yax Invites is out now!

For this episode, I've dug deep and recorded a 5hr mix for the milestone episode of my beloved podcast. For this week’s Substantiv mix we present Yax. Yax is a techno DJ from Adelaide, Australia. His style is continuously evolving throughout the years, but he maintains a focus on deep, groovy, hypnotic, and minimal techno, as he takes inspiration from the 90s and early 00s era, while still adding a modern twist to his sets. Whilst maintaining a presence in the scene in Adelaide by organizing his first Yax Presents rave in March and recently his first 'Paranoia' night at Sugar Night Club, Yax also curates a weekly podcast series called Yax Invites, which began in 2021 with the aim of showcasing talent from around the world with an emphasis on extended techno mixes.
