2025, hey babe! 👋
This is me, Adelle - business owner, floral designer and sometimes bucket scrubber of The Lost Florist. We are heading into year FIVE(!) of TLF this year, which is crazy considering I became a business owner somewhat accidentally.
I have been inspired by a post by my talented friend to get a little bit vulnerable today. Here is the origin story (so to speak) of The Lost Florist. Where we started, where we’ve been hiding and where we are heading towards this year and beyond.
The Lost Florist originally started as a portfolio page in 2019 to post my floristry work from when I lived in London. I was a graphic designer by trade when I left Adelaide for adventure abroad, but was always drawn to flowers and dreamed about it becoming my job. Thanks to good timing, a great boss taking a chance on me and a pinch of Aussie charm, I got the opportunity to learn on the job at . It was here my floral obsession truly began. I saw what flowers can do to transform, to enhance, to emote, and to comfort. This opportunity set me up for life, undoubtedly.
The inspiration for the name The Lost Florist is because at the time I felt lost somewhere between my two homes of England and Australia. I am forever inspired by wild country gardens in England and the untamed natural beauty of my birthplace Adelaide, Australia. I am still to this day a bit lost somewhere between the two ✨
When I returned to Adelaide I had no intention of creating a business. Absolutely not! I would never have called myself entrepreneurial. I wanted to work for someone else in a big team, collaborate, get inspired by other creatives and make, make, MAKE until my fingers ached.
I stumbled into my business through generous (and brave!) friends and family, trusting me to create flowers for their special events. I loved working in retail flowers in England (there is something SO satisfying about getting a brief, making, delivering and receiving instant feedback in minutes!) but felt drawn to create for bigger events and weddings.
