Holes 8 & 9 Update

Week 3 of course development is underway!

-27 Athel Pines removed along James Melrose boundary; will be replanted 2:1 with Native Pines, Drooping Sheoaks & Non-native Pines.
-Retaining wall work continues at the 9th green.
-110mm irrigation mainline installed along the 8th fairway.
-1,400m² of turf relocated to improve fairways 8 & 9.

Jack Leonard has claimed an incredible victory at the South Australian Junior Masters, winning in a three-person playoff on the fifth hole at Royal Adelaide Golf Course. With rounds of 75, 73, and a stunning 67, Jack's composure and skill shone through. A fantastic achievement for Jack

Golf Australia SA Junior Amateur – Day 1 Results

The SA Junior Amateur Championship commenced on Monday, 13th January, at Kooyonga Golf Club.

Jack Leonard is off to a strong start, finishing Day 1 tied for 1st place with rounds of 72 and 73, resulting in a total score of 145.

Leonard is set to tee off in Round 3 today, joined by fellow junior Members Anthony Wang, Indie Danger, Kyle Feltus and Grace Ferrier.

Glenelg Golf Club’s junior program is thriving with 100 junior members! Our 24/25 Junior Development Day, held on Sunday 22nd December, brought together 35 juniors for a day of fun, learning, and competition, led by Adam Bland, Ryan Reavley, and Connor Chant.

The day kicked off with excitement as juniors received PING Golf Australia caps, Titleist golf balls, and ball marker packs. The morning clinic featured group putting games, pitching, and full-swing stations, helping juniors sharpen their skills. After lunch, the experienced players hit the course for an 18-hole competition, battling windy but sunny conditions for prizes, including a Ping golf bag.

It was a fantastic day fostering skills, friendships, and love for the game!

You may have noticed new works between the 11th hole and 12th tee as we trial hexagonal plastic grates. These grates allow grass to grow through, reducing wear and creating a greener, healthier surface over time.

While the grass re-establishes itself, we appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing the benefits this trial will bring to the course.

Today we are sharing a beautiful series of photos taken by Member Geoff Hallion. These photos are of a family of Black-fronted dotterels who have been living between the 5th and 6th holes. Geoff has also spotted Long-billed Corella foraging under the pine trees near the Clubhouse.

Black-fronted dotterels are always found near water and eat small molluscs, as well as terrestrial and aquatic insects.

Not only did Geoff share these stunning photos with us, he also uploaded them to iNaturalist.org. His findings have taken our biodiversity inventory to over 255 sightings of 144 species. View iNaturalist - https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/glenelg-golf-club-biodiversity-inventory

How wonderful was our Family Christmas Night on Sunday, 15 December! It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying the water slides, face painting, delicious food, and the movie under the stars after dinner. A big thank you to all who joined us and made it such a memorable evening!
