Anthony and Sandra from The Herb Society of SA were a wealth of knowledge today in the Growing Herbs workshop at Findon Community Centre. The group had a tour of the well established herb garden, learnt how to propagate herbs and salvia and took home their own potted herbs!

20/08/2024

The Aviva Method is a structured, non-invasive and moderate exercise technique that has a therapeutic effect on the female reproductive system, developed by Hungarian-born dancer, ballerina, and physiotherapist Aviva Gabriella Steiner. She has been teaching the method since the 1960s in Tel Aviv so that women can take control of their cycle. The movements are focused on the so-called “working zone” – the pelvic, hip and lower abdominal region of the body.

The practice of the Method boosts blood circulation in the reproductive organs and improves the production and transmission of hormones that play a crucial role in the female menstrual cycle. It will not only strengthen the reproductive organs but also unblock circulatory blockages and restore the very delicate balance of the hormonal system.

The muscle contracting, releasing and blood circulation-improving exercises are put together in a sequence and are very effective in combating different gynecological issues.

The exercises of the AVIVA Method can help with the following:
- Irregular or cramping cycles
- Dissolving cysts and myomas
- Certain infertility problems (e.g. Fallopian tube blockage)
- Balancing hormones
- Normalizing body weight, if it is because of hormone imbalances
- Strengthening the uterus (e.g. after a miscarriage)
- Handling PMS
- Reducing and eliminating menopausal symptoms
- Helps with men’s problems as well (prostate problems, increasing s***m count, etc.) – there is a separate sequence for men, but they can practice the 18 basic exercises as well

The exercises of the method influence different areas, so it can help men, those struggling with incontinence, menopause, prenatal and ladies who’d like to have babies. You can learn the basic sequence in a 4-hour workshop. We learn the 18 basic exercises, its shortened version, the panic exercise and the contracting exercise that can be performed anytime, anywhere. We will also discuss what lifestyle changes are worth implementing to reach our goals (e.g. posture, sleeping, nutrition, etc.)

There are cases when the method is not recommended, so it’s worthwhile checking in with me if you can do the Aviva Method (e.g. if you are on contraception pills – it is highly recommended afterwards -, during hormone treatment, coil, certain cases of endometriosis, and cancer, etc.

Aviva Workshop from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm on 20th September 2024
Fee: $80 for 4 hours
